Since the introduction of champions, Bungie has slowly been altering Destiny 2's armory of exotics to be viable against Overload, Barrier, and Unstoppable champions without the need for mods. The latest sandbox update will see plenty of buffs to exotics such as Malfeasance, Thunderlord, and Wish-ender to make them more viable in endgame activities where champions are a regular headache. However, it is the update to the exotic bow Le Monarque which has the game's community buzzing online with excitement for the next update.

Destiny 2 is currently nearing the end of its current season with Season of the Haunted, which saw the return of Calus and the Leviathan as the former Cabal emperor's ship took orbit over Earth's moon. Guardians were tasked with investigating the ship to learn of Calus' intentions with the dormant lunar Pyramid alongside Eris Morn, Crow, Commander Zavala, and Cabal Empress Caiatl. The season's narrative reached its climax ahead of Solstice as players were finally able to sever the connection between the Leviathan and the Pyramid, but not before Calus was able to fully give himself over to The Witness and become its newest herald.

As the season is almost over, Bungie is starting to give players a glimpse of what is coming in season 18's sandbox update on August 23. One of the changes on the way, as mentioned above, is an intrinsic Overload perk to Le Monarque's poison arrows that make the bow viable in endgame activities against Overload champions. News of the change appeared to be a welcome one among the Destiny 2 community as many players took to the game's official subreddit to share their excitement for the change.

The reason for players' excitement over Le Monarque gaining the intrinsic Overload perk goes back to year 4 of Destiny 2 where the Overload bow perk was available in Season of the Chosen and Season of the Lost. In both seasons, the exotic energy bows Le Monarque, Ticuu's Divination, and Trinity Ghoul were the norm in most players arsenals as they could deal high damage to Overload champions, didn't require multiple shots to proc an overload shot, and are generally good for add control because of their respective area-of-effect perks.

Le Monarque, in particular, has been a consistently popular exotic due to its relative ease of use and the number of enemies using void shields in endgame activities such as Grandmaster Nightfalls.

As mentioned above, though, Le Monarque isn't the only exotic getting an intrinsic champion perk buff in season 18. Thunderlord, Malfeasance, and Wish-ender will also receive intrinsic buffs in the sandbox update, making the weapons viable against Overload, Unstoppable, and Barrier champions, respectively.

Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
