Just over two weeks from release, Destiny 2 has debuted its launch trailer, which shows more of the story and highlights the game’s action. It sets up the “World without Light” tagline the game has been using—the Guardians (including the three Vanguard characters, Zavala, Cayde, and Ikora) have lost their powers, the Last City invaded and its inhabitants killed, and the Traveler and the Speaker in the hands of the villainous Ghaul.

Destiny 2’s developer, Bungie, looks to make good on its promise of a cinematic story that is set to tell a better and more coherent narrative than the one found in Destiny 1. This trailer alone is full of scenes from different cinematics, including those that show the perspective of the villains, others that show new characters being added to the Destiny universe, and action sequences.

Starting off the trailer, the scene with Ghaul includes the Consul, a character that has been talked about and teased for a while now, but this trailer is the first time he has been shown. It also shows another new character, Hawthorne, who is seen with Cayde-6 sneaking through what looks to be the rubble of the Last City. Hawthorne has been identified as an NPC at the game’s new social space called The Farm, but based on this trailer she will clearly get to see some action in the game’s story as well.

The trailer also shows off a ton of gameplay expanding on what fans of the series will expect from the game—the new subclasses, hard-hitting sci-fi weapons, epic skyboxes, and towering alien bosses. Plus, Cayde-6’s signature humor injected into the series is back.

It’s just 16 days until Destiny 2 releases. Before that, however, PC players will get their hands on the beta, starting with early access on August 28.

Destiny 2 releases on September 6, 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One, and on October 24, 2017 for PC.
