Destiny 2: Forsaken’s Last Wish raid has officially been released to the world, and fans have quickly found out that it is much harder than they were anticipating, both in terms of mechanics and power level. Following the intense World’s First race, from which Clan Redeem emerged victorious, only a small number of players successfully cleared the raid within the first 24 hours.

Only twelve Destiny 2 players successfully cleared Last Wish before the daily reset on Saturday, which means those two teams, Redeem included, are the only ones in the world with the 24-hour clear emblem. Clan Math Class fell just short of the 24 hour mark, clearing the raid two-minutes past the 24 hour deadline. At the time of writing, only four fireteams have successfully cleared Last Wish at all, and all of the fireteams have been members of the Destiny content creator community.

Compare those clear numbers to the King’s Fall raid from Destiny: The Taken King, which had 37,591 players defeat Oryx on day one. A large part of the difficulty in Last Wish comes from Power Level. By the end of the raid, enemies are around Power Level 580 to which no player is remotely near, and may not be near for a while. Most fireteams that cleared the raid were in the 550 Power range, and the quickest run was almost 19 hours.

last wish raid world's first belt

This seems to be a large step away from making endgame content easily accessible to everyone. One large complaint from Destiny 2’s first year was that high Power Levels meant little, and content was too easy. Last Wish certainly seems to be a response to those criticisms. While some players are complaining that they had no chance of getting the 24-hour emblem, it is clear that the special emblem was for those who dedicated immense amounts of time to the game. It is not an emblem meant for everyone to be able to get, including some players like Math Class who put their hearts and souls into the race.

While players may not be able to take on Riven for a while, some new content opened up in the Dreaming City following Redeem’s raid clear. A new quest, strike, and Dreaming City activities are now available to all players of Destiny 2, so in the end everyone benefits from the World’s First race.

Destiny 2: Forsaken is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
