Destiny 2 offers one of the hardest endgame modes of its kind in the form of Grandmaster Nightfalls, as they are activities with a limited number of revives and where a team-wide wipe will take everyone to Orbit, concluding the run. This is the reason why GM Nightfalls generally require more strategy and optimized loadouts to finish, meaning that players often need a lot of patience. Of course, there are easier GM Nightfalls to tackle first and get a grasp of what the game mode entails, and Lake of Shadows has always been considered the easiest overall.

This stems from the fact that Destiny 2 players can skip a few encounters in the Strike and cheese through others, leading to rather short runs up to the final boss - Grask, the Consumed. Grask itself was a rather easy encounter that most players would finish in a matter of seconds by melting the Lake of Shadows boss, which was done both for speed reasons and because the Strike's boss arena can be a nightmare if Grask lives long enough. However, just a few weeks ago, Bungie announced that Grask was getting a health buff in order to make it survive for longer against organized teams.

Destiny 2 YouTuber and content creator Aoterra shared a video that shows the comparison between Lake of Shadows runs before the buff and now, considering that this is the GM Nightfall available for the week. The test is done by using the exact same loadout between the two videos, with a dedicated Divinity user for extra damage, and the post-patch boss is dead within 9 seconds. The pre-patch boss takes around 11 seconds, which is longer in and of itself, but one of Aoterra's teammates also uses their Thundercrash Super in the process, which deals a lot of single-target damage.

This means that Grask's health is now less than before, instead, and players who were worried they couldn't melt this boss fast enough after the patch can use the same strategies as before and still do it. It's very likely that Bungie will release a new Destiny 2 hotfix to change this correctly, but it's not impossible that a fix will have to wait until next week when Lake of Shadows rotates out of the GM playlist for a while once more.

It's not uncommon for Destiny 2 to have a few glitches going on at the same time, and this is no exception. In fact, a current Destiny 2 bug makes enemies come back to life after they are killed with finishers. While it's likely not connected to the Lake of Shadows issue, both can be rather problematic in different ways.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
