Season of Dawn brings with it a new set of ritual weapons to Destiny 2, with the ritual weapon for the Crucible being a linear fusion rifle known as the Komodo-4FR. The steps to get the Komodo-4FR are not quite as difficult of a grind as some of the PvP-focused ritual and pinnacle weapons of the past, but will naturally require players to spend some time in the Crucible. There are some tips to help ease the grind for this linear fusion rifle, and this quest could become considerably easier later on if players are willing to wait.
The Komodo-4FR comes with a fixed roll of Polygonal Rifling, Accelerated Coils, a choice between No Distractions and Moving Target, and a choice between Eye of the Storm and Box Breathing. Destiny 2 is no longer adding pinnacle weapons with unique perks but ritual weapons that are closer to existing archetypes with fixed rolls.
To earn the Komodo-4FR, players will need to pick up the Heart of the Dragon quest from Lord Shaxx and then complete its three tasks:
Get 15 linear fusion rifle precision final blows
125 linear fusion rifle final blows
Reach the Heroic rank in Glory
Unlike some of the Crucible weapon quests in the past, the final blows and precision final blows can be completed in any playlist of the Crucible in Season of Dawn; progress is not limited to the competitive Survival playlist. More populous playlists will be best for this such as Control, Classic Mix, or Clash (which is active this week as a playlist).
Players will need to equip a linear fusion rifle, obviously, but almost all of them at in the heavy slot, so players will need to try to get Heavy ammo drops in the Crucible in order to make use of these linear fusion rifles. However, the best loadout for completing this quest is for players to equip the exotic linear fusion rifle Arbalest, which goes in the kinetic slot and uses special ammo, allowing players to get kills even when they don't have heavy ammo.
Unless players are in a hurry to get this done, they may want to wait a little bit. First of all, the Lantern of Osiris seasonal artifact grants mods that will improve the use of linear fusion rifles: Enhanced Rifle Loader, Enhanced Unflinching Rifle Aim, and Enhanced Linear Fusion Rifle Targeting. If players wait until they unlock these mods in the seasonal artifact, it may make it easier to get kills with linear fusion rifles in the Crucible.
After players get the required kills, they can jump into the Survival playlist with any loadout they see fit and grind up to Heroic. Heroic is the third full rank of Glory, which should not be too difficult a grind for most players considering the Crucible changes that took place last season to help boost players up to the skill ranking that the game assigns them behind the scenes.
Additionally, if players really want to be patient, they could wait until Momentum Control comes back into rotation in the Crucible, a faster game mode where weapon damage is increased. This mode will allow Arbelest to one-shot enemies, which could speed up the progression of this quest. But Bungie has yet to detail when Momentum Control will be coming back, so there's no telling when it will show up.
After all the objectives are completed, players just need to head back to the Tower and pick up Komodo-4FR from Lord Shaxx.
