Destiny 2 players shouldn't bother holding onto any Iron Banner tokens, as they are set to disappear after the conclusion of Destiny 2's first Iron Banner PvP event. Much in the same way tokens associated with the Faction Rallies event functioned, they will not be allowed to carry over to a future event.

The information comes directly from the Iron Banner help page on developer Bungie's website, telling players to be sure to cash in all their tokens before Iron Banner ends at the weekly reset:

Players should ensure that they turn in any remaining Iron Banner Tokens before Lord Saladin departs from the Tower Courtyard following the weekly reset.

While this will be disappointing news for some Destiny 2 fans, there is not much reason to hold onto tokens. At least judging by what has been said so far about Iron Banner, which seems to be that there likely will not be new gear available during the next event, there's not much incentive in saving up to hopefully get something different during next month's Iron Banner.

Speaking of Iron Banner tokens, for those unfamiliar with the event in Destiny 2, the random end-of-match drops are gone for armor and weapons in favor of the token system that pervades nearly all of Destiny 2. Many fans are starting to raise complaints at the token system and how it is making the game feel far less rewarding in comparison to Destiny 1.

Bungie says it is listening to fan feedback, especially about the endgame, but fans are in a holding pattern for now, waiting to see how Bungie will address the issues they are bringing forward. But, in the meantime, be sure to turn in those Iron Banner tokens before the weekly reset, which occurs Tuesday, October 17 at 2 a.m. Pacific.

Destiny 2 is available now for PS4 and Xbox One, and releases on October 24, 2017 for PC.
