One of the most popular recurring events from the first Destiny game was the Iron Banner, which will soon make its Destiny 2 debut. As announced by Bungie, the first Iron Banner event for Destiny 2 is right around the corner, kicking off on October 10th at 2am Pacific time and wrapping up on October 17th at 2am Pacific.

In Destiny 2's first version of the Iron Banner, two teams of four will compete against each other in the Control match type. Players will earn Iron Banner Tokens by participating in the event and completing milestones that will help them unlock impressive new armor that looks something like samurai gear for Guardians.

While Destiny 2 fans are likely excited to earn this new armor, it's worth noting that not everyone with the game can automatically throw their hat in the ring. As it turns out, participating in Destiny 2's Iron Banner requires that players complete the story campaign missions first. From there, the next step is speaking with Lord Saladin in the Tower to start the Iron Banner quest, which likely has some objectives based in the mode.

Bungie's Iron Banner announcement confirms previously leaked details on the multiplayer event. The leaks claimed that Lady Efrideet, who ran the show during the events of Destiny 1's Rise of Iron expansion, would be replaced by Lord Saladin, and that has turned out to be accurate information. The Iron Banner's use of the milestone system instead of bounties was also leaked last week.

With this being Destiny 2's first Iron Banner event, it's possible the event will change in the future. Future iterations of Destiny 2's Iron Banner will likely come with new rewards and will feature different modes, but Bungie may also tweak some of the rules as the studio attempts to figure out exactly how it wants the PvP event to work in the sequel. In the meantime, fans can look forward to battling it out with each other in Destiny 2's first Iron Banner event from October 10th to the 17th.

Destiny 2 is available now for PS4 and Xbox One. A PC version will launch on October 24th.
