Although the delay of the Beyond Light expansion might have extended things, many Destiny 2 players believe that next week is going to be a big one for the community. If the math is correct, the Interference Mission will deliver its final lore piece from Eris, which could include a change of scenery, if not more.

As the 15th iteration of the Interference Mission, the expectation is that there will be some form of closure to the Tree of Silver Wings storyline. What exactly that means is unclear (data miners have some answers), but there is a strong belief based on Triumphs that there will be a new area to explore and at least one new villain to fight.

Former Destiny 2 “explorer” JB3 has apparently given players a look at what the Interference Mission could look like in a video. Be warned that SPOILERS will follow.

Using out of bounds hacks, JB3 shows off an area that features statues of some of the villain races, as well as Guardians, looking towards a hovering Pyramid Ship installation. This seems like an area where Destiny 2 will dole out one of its big info dumps and explain more about the Darkness. Although the Pyramid Ships are descending on the solar system for the first time in-game, this is not the first time that the Darkness has invaded in Destiny's history. Perhaps this room is a monument to the first encounter with the Darkness.

It's also possible that this area is never going to be used in the game, which is surprisingly common for Destiny 2. Sometimes Bungie keeps assets in the files that were intended for a mission, weapon, or piece of gear, but never activates them for one reason or another.

That being said, JB3 is fairly reliable when it comes to revealing new areas in Destiny 2. At one point, he was known for glitching into secret areas, but then he started using hacks to clip through walls and levels. This resulted in Bungie banning JB3 from the game, which he admitted was a fair punishment, but not before revealing a few more areas like this one.

If the math is right then Destiny 2 players are in for a big week starting on Tuesday. The new mission will likely bring closure to the Interference storyline – and potentially setup the Beyond Light campaign – and it's presumed that the second half of the Evacuation quest will unlock.

This mission will see players helping clear out some of the destinations in Destiny 2 before the Darkness attacks. It also serves as one last hurrah for Titan, Mars, Mercury, and Io before they enter the Destiny Content Vault.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
