Since its reveal earlier this year, Bungie has continually promised that Destiny 2: Beyond Light is going to be a new beginning for the popular franchise. Beyond Light is a jumping off point for the next few years of content and Bungie is reworking tons of gameplay elements for a better overall experience going forward. While five locations and their content are going to be removed and placed into the Destiny Content Vault, Bungie could be bringing back an old fan favorite location based on a new leak.

Over on the Destiny 2 read secrets subReddit, user Felwinter_123 came across new data viewing the HTML code of the PlayStation Store. The images depict art of Beyond Light including two new shots of what appears to be a Fireteam looking up at a fully healed traveler as well as the old Tower location. What's interesting about this is that currently, the Traveler appears broken in the sky with debris floating all around it. In addition, the last time players were in the old Tower location, it was under siege from the Red Legion and getting destroyed during the opening moments of Destiny 2 and then briefly during the events of Zero Hour.

This find has naturally led the fanbase to assume that the old Tower space is making a come back, further making Beyond Light feel more like a soft reboot of the franchise. Others in the comments thread are hopeful that this space could be the new replacement for the Tribute Hall, which is getting vaulted in November. Others have noted that with Benedict and Ada leaving the Tower due to their content being removed, Drifter would be the only person left in the Annex portion of the Tower, leaving little reason for that section of the Tower to exist at all. Perhaps Drifter and a few others, like Saint-14 who is also the only meaningful vendor in the Hangar at the moment, could be relocated to the Old Tower to better maximize the space.

While there would no doubt be a large portion of the Destiny 2 fanbase that would love to return to the old Tower space, if not simply for nostalgia reasons, it's hard to see how Bungie could incorporate this zone while leaving the current social space intact. There is precedence for this however as two social spaces have been a staple for the series, with the Old Tower and The Reef in the first game, and then The Farm and current Tower in Destiny 2. Still, there would need to be a reason for players to go to the old Tower else it would likely turn into a ghost town such as The Farm is right now. Either way, this bit of information is unverified, so players should take it with a grain of salt.

If true, the old Tower joins the likes of The Cosmodrome and Vault of Glass as old Destiny 1 content getting revived and brought back. The New Light program for players is also getting revised, now in the hands of a new NPC called Shaw Han. However, rumors and speculation seem to indicate that this character could, in fact, be the former Uldren Sov adapting to his new life as a Guardian. With only weeks left, players won't have too much longer to find out the truth.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light releases November 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions to follow.
