Destiny 2 players can get themselves an Igneous Hammer Hand Cannon by completing a very simple seasonal challenge in Trials of Osiris. Igneous Hammer is one of the new Season of the Chosen Trials weapons and is highly desirable due to its potential for excellent perk god rolls.

With Season of the Chosen’s launch, Bungie introduced a refreshed loot pool for Trials of Osiris, including plenty of brand-new weapons and a new armor set for each class. The PvP mode has had an incredibly shaky time in the last year since its launch, with the mode seeing several recent cancellations due to a match fixing scheme that allowed players to get the best loot with minimal effort.

Players can get their Igneous Hammer by completing the “Trial By Firing Squad” seasonal challenge from week eight, which requires players to simply win seven rounds of Trials of Osiris – not matches. In theory, any player can complete this challenge in just two matches, making this extremely achievable for most players. The challenge will be available until the end of Season of the Chosen.

When the seasonal challenge was first available, many Destiny 2 players speculated as to whether the Trials weapon reward would be random. It was quickly confirmed when Trials went live today that players that complete the challenge are guaranteed to get an Igneous Hammer. The weapon is very highly rated in the current Crucible meta because it belongs in the dominant 120RPM Hand Cannon archetype, meaning it hits hard and has excellent range, and also because of its great perk combinations, such as Rapid Hit and Rampage.

Given how potent some of Season 13’s new Trials weapons are, giving players an opportunity to get themselves one of the current best weapons in Destiny 2 for PvP, this will certainly be greatly appreciated by those who are not able to try for a flawless run each week. Hopefully, Bungie tries more stuff like this in future seasons to help as many players as possible experience some of the best weapons in Destiny 2.

The easy requirements for the weekly challenge and the promise of good loot should also help improve the population for Trials, which could alleviate many of the problems that exist with the mode already. Perhaps a similar version of this challenge rewards system could even be implemented for Nightfall Strikes, with players receiving one of the new weapons, such as the Palindrome Hand Cannon.
