When the Forsaken expansion launched last year and players finally made their way to The Dreaming City, one of the first things players noticed were little cat statues hidden around the location. Once the various server and connection issues that plagued the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep launch, players flooded the moon and quickly came across a variety of secrets as well. One such mystery were a new set of statues modeled after the game's continued reference of the Jade Rabbit.
Just like the cats within The Dreaming City, Destiny 2 players were first greeted with a message that indicated they lacked an ingredient needed to interact with the statue. After a few hours of playtime, the mystery of the Jade Rabbit in an astronaut suit has finally been solved. Here's how to interact with the statues.
Players will first need to find a rare consumable called a Tasty Rice Cake. These have a small chance to drop from any loot source on the Moon including Helium Filaments, world chests, or other loot sources. In addition, players can also receive them as rewards from doing the new Nightmare Hunt mode.
Taking them to one of the nine statues will give the player to present an offering and in exchange for the Rice Cake, players will receive a Phantasmal Core. These new materials are very important as they're used to purchase Essence bounties at the Lectern of Enchantment. Completing a certain amount of these will ultimately unlock the new Dreambane Armor set, which has been featured predominantly in many Shadowkeep screenshots and trailers.
Unfortunately, the ultimate prize for interacting with all Jade Rabbit statues has yet to be discovered by players. While providing an offering to all of the cats inside of The Dreaming City gives players a new emblem, the Jade Rabbits seem to act differently. Upon receiving the Rice Cake, the statues move to the Daito Room in Sanctuary instead of remaining at that location on the Moon. The room itself is near the landing location and has 10 pedestals for each of the statues as well as the iconic Jade Rabbit logo on the back wall.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
