One of the big selling points of the new Destiny 2 expansion, Lightfall, is the inclusion of a brand-new Darkness subclass called Strand. Just like with Beyond Light and Stasis, players will have to complete the entire Lightfall campaign in order to unlock Strand permanently. Throughout the campaign, players get to play with a empowered version of the abilities they will unlock later on.

Thankfully, unlocking Fragments for Strand along with other grenade options is significantly easier and less time-consuming than it was for Stasis during Beyond Light. To begin with, players will need to gather Strand Meditations. Here is how to get Strand Meditations along with what they are used for.

How to Get Strand Meditations

Thankfully, Strand Meditations drop like candy. To be more specific, Destiny 2 players can obtain Strand Meditations by completing any activity in Neomuna. Whether it is a Public Event, Patrol, or Terminal Overload (as examples), players will get small amounts of Strand Meditations.

In addition, players will also get a weekly bonus of Strand Meditations by completing the weekly reputation challenge with Nimbus. In addition to that, there is a one time bonus that players can get by completing the campaign on Legendary difficulty.

Another method for acquiring Strand Meditations is to simply use Strand (once unlocked) and get kills with abilities. Each ability kill has a chance at dropping a Strand Meditation that can be picked up. Strand Meditation will look like a glowing green triangle when it drops, so keep an eye out for them. This method for getting Strand Meditations can be done anywhere in the game instead of just Neomuna.

What Are Strand Meditations Used For?

Once Destiny 2 players have gathered enough Strand Meditations, they can be used to unlock new abilities and Fragments for Strand. While players had to complete long and time-consuming quests to unlock fragments and abilities for Stasis, that is not the case for Strand.

To unlock Fragments and abilities with Strand Meditations, go to the Pouka Pond in the Hall of Heroes in Neomuna. Interacting with this space will bring up a menu for unlocking Strand fragments and abilities. While additional grenade options are fairly cheap, Fragments are significantly more expensive. Each fragment will cost 200 Strand Mediations a piece.

One important thing that Destiny 2 players should keep in mind that not all Fragments are currently available. One batch of Fragments are time-gated until the second week of Season of Defiance begins on March 7th. The second batch of Fragments cannot be obtained until the world first completion of The Root of Nightmares raid when it unlocks on March 10th. As long as one group of players clears the raid, the fragments will unlock for all players.

Destiny 2 is available now on Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
