A new expansion in Destiny 2 has brought along a bunch of new cool Exotic gear and weapons for players to try out. One of such additions is the Osteo Striga, which seems to follow the trend of weapons crafted out of sentient creatures and materials, like the Parasite.

The Osteo Striga has quickly emerged as one of the most popular weapons in the first two weeks of The Witch Queen being released. It's not uncommon to see players run this chaotic, poison-inducing weapon even in PvP. For those wondering how to get the Osteo Striga, here's how it's done in Destiny 2.

How To Get The Osteo Striga Exotic SMG

Unfortunately for many players, the Osteo Striga Exotic SMG is currently only available for those who have bought the Deluxe version of The Witch Queen expansion. The gun also comes with an ornament.

So far, it's unclear whether Osteo Striga will ever be released to the general player base. Though the SMG has been touted as one of the best weapons to have been released in the expansion, it's unlikely it will become a solid meta weapon during the Season of the Risen.

Once players have purchased the Deluxe Edition, they need to finish The Witch Queen campaign. After completing the last mission, the Osteo Striga becomes available for crafting as players return to the Enclave and speak with Ikora Rey.

Crafting The Osteo Striga

After finishing The Ritual mission, head back to the Enclave and approach the Relic. The Osteo Striga is a Power weapon located in the player's secondary slot. Though players only start with one option for each socket, more options become available later on when players level the weapon.

Default Perks: These Exotic perks must be picked by default, as they make the weapon what it is.

  • Screaming Swarm: The Osteo Striga shoots sentient projectiles.
  • Toxic Overload: Final blows and precision hits have a chance of triggering a poison effect that damages enemies nearby the target as well.

Interchangeable Perks: These perks can be changed and played around with, provided the player has unlocked the levels required to add these perks on the Osteo Striga.

Getting The Osteo Striga Catalyst

Destiny 2 The Osteo Striga Catalyst Cost

In order to qualify for the catalyst, players first need to level up the Osteo Striga to level 10 by using it. Then, the catalyst can be unlocked by Reshaping the weapon at the Relic. As one would expect, the catalyst isn't cheap to add, either. Players will need to have 3 Ascendant Alloys, 140 Ruinous Element, and 2,000 Neutral Element to be able to craft it.

The catalyst buffs the Osteo Striga's range and stability. Every time the poison effect is triggered as a final blow, a bit of ammo is returned to the SMG's magazine.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
