The first encounter in Destiny 2's new Crown of Sorrow raid has been dubbed the Witches' Ritual but should not be confused with the public event of the same name. In this encounter, players need to defeat enemies that are immune to normal damage and micro-manage a blessing buff that only lasts for 1 minute. Here's everything Destiny 2 players will need to know to complete the first encounter of the Crown of Sorrow raid.

Before ever beginning, players will want to be sure they have the recommended Season of Opulence power level and a good loadout for the encounter. And once the first Destiny 2 Crown of Sorrow raid encounter begins, 3 people will need to quickly grab the blessing buff from the initial circle. These players will be the ones capable of damaging those enemies immune to normal damage.

Players should then huddle around the fruit, which will allow players to kill enemies spawning on the left and right of it. This is a good way to manage the enemies of the Destiny 2 encounter. This also allows players to manage the blessing buff with a high level of effectiveness, as when a player with the buff gets low on time (20 seconds or less), a blessed and non-blessed player must punch the fruit. This will swap the buff between all players: everyone who had the buff no longer does, and those who didn't before have it now. Repeat every time someone gets low on time.

When crystals spawn, players will hear a shriek. A blessed and non-blessed player must synchronize their shots and damage each crystal at the same time to break it. If any pop, the party will wipe the Crown of Sorrow raid. Destiny 2 players will also notice a green "infection" consuming the crystal, moving from top to bottom, which leads to a party wipe when the crystal is entirely consumed. When crystals do spawn, one will appear on each side— right, center, left— so the whole team may want to break into teams of two and move from right to left, killing the crystals quickly.

The best way to know how far through the encounter the fireteam requires players to keep up with their Ogres. Repeating the ogre stage 4 times will finish the encounter. The best way to handle the ogres is to hit the fruit when they spawn and swapping the buff immediately, which will give Destiny 2 players the ability to kill the ogres within one blessing. Focus them, stagger them, and kill them. Rinse and repeat until the first encounter is officially beaten. Another good tip for heading into this encounter is for players to familiarize themselves with the Destiny 2 Season of Opulence patch notes.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
