As the Guardians further test the abilities of Strand, Osiris will have them prove themselves in a rather intensive training program in the Destiny 2 Lightfall mission Headlong. This Destiny 2 mission is not easy, and the boss fight has seen many complaints for normal difficulty and especially in Legendary. Just because Osiris is experienced with the Vex doesn’t mean every Guardian is.

Luckily for the player, there’s a rather easy and efficient way to cheese the final boss of the Headlong campaign mission, meaning that players are one step closer to completing Lightfall and bringing close to yet another chapter in Destiny 2. When players learn how to cheese Ioneion, System Control Flow, they will be one step closer to foiling the Witness’ plans on Neomuna.

Why The Cheese Is Vital

Not every boss fight in Destiny 2 is frustrating, but there are some above others where the odds are unfairly stacked against the player. Destiny 2’s Lightfall mission Headlong features a final boss in a small room, where players are constantly forced to run in one direction because of a red wall that follows them and will kill them if hit. Not only is this fatal wall an issue, but Hobgoblins that spawn close to the ceiling will snipe the player.

As if the Hobgoblins were not enough, the constant spawning of Minotaur, Fanatics, and Goblins makes for a true frenzy. And in Legendary difficulty, the Headlong mission will surely cause some headaches and frustration, especially since the player will not have a fast regenerative Super on command. However, the use of some exotics like the Deterministic Chaos could help greatly.

The Right Weapons

Although entering the Ioneion cheese is rather easy, causing consistent damage is not. The boss tends to move around a lot, and players will be stuck in a corner the entire time. However, these weapons will be a great pick for the fight ahead:

  • The Osteo Striga, or any damage over time weapons, are great against this boss. If the player can get consistent hits on them, then a swarm of poison darts will track and hit the boss for more damage or even hit other enemies that may swarm, as a multitude of Vex will cause a large bout of grief to the player. A Kinetic weapon is essential, especially a primary unaffected by Destiny 2 difficulty changes, considering the infinite ammo will ensure players will not have to leave their cheese spot.
  • For the Power weapon, players might want to select a Heavy Machine Gun. Although a Linear Fusion Rifle is just as good, the fact that the boss may move between the charge-up time means ammo is wasted. Grenade Launchers and Rocket Launchers will also want to be avoided just in case players miss the areas that they can shoot out of from this cheese. A Heavy Machine gun deals consistently decent damage with a lot of ammo, and the recent buff makes it a savior.

  • A bow can also work wonders, as it uses Kinetic ammo. The precision damage for a bow is like no other, and players can easily chain their shots to make easy work out of the final Headlong boss. Even a bow with Dragonfly for the added explosive damage on precision final blows or an Exotic bow could work wonders. The damage will kick like a mule but will be slow, an essential way to kill the boss.

How To Avoid Death

There’s nothing worse than being consumed by Darkness and watching the Light fade when the player is killed in Destiny 2. There are a few tips while in the Destiny 2 boss fight cheese to ensure they stay alive long enough to see the mission end:

  • Play it safe. Guardians should not leave the area of the cheese, no matter what. If the boss is being stubborn and not approaching the player, then the player should focus fire on the other Vex enemies to get the boss’ attention. It’s not safe to leave the room and risk being shot or killed by the red wall.

  • Avoid using explosive weapons like grenade launchers or rocket launchers, as shooting through the rings and gaps of the portal in the cheese is not worth the risk of getting blown up because of the unreliable nature of the enemy movements or the hitbox through the gaps.
  • Hug the back wall in dangerous situations. If the player is getting damaged due to grenades or splash damage, then the wall is the best friend of the player. This wall is a safer distance from enemies, especially the red wall that will kill them, as it can’t pass through this cheese, one of the many reasons it's effective.

How To Beat Ioneion, System Control Flow Easily

This new Lightfall campaign boss is already infamous for its difficulty. To make it far easier, players will want to go to the far right portal in the boss room. As soon as players enter the final challenge room, they want to run straight and head for the portal in the right corner.

Once at the portal, players can walk through the gaps seen by the portal’s rings and easily get themselves behind it. From this location, the player is completely safe from the red wall of death, as it does not reach that far into the room. The Vex enemies are also unable to reach into the room, but they can shoot into the room with their weapons and grenades.

To activate the boss from this cheese, players need to kill the spawning Malignant enemies. After defeating 4 of 4 Vex, the final boss will spawn, and the best way to beat Ioneion, System Control Flow, will be clear with this cheese method. Players just need to shoot the boss repeatedly from the safety of the cheese until that health bar is no more. There’s no second phase or Tormentors up this giant Minotaur’s sleeve, making easy work of the once difficult Ioneion, System Control Flow boss.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
