Aside from just looking different from anything else in the game, Exotic Armor in Destiny 2 is something that players can make all sorts of powerful builds with. The catch is, however, that players can only equip one Exotic Armor piece and one Exotic Weapon at any given time (cosmetic Exotics like Ghost Shells do not count).

Whether it is for a higher energy version of an Exotic, or simply looking to filly out the collection, Destiny 2 players are always on the hunt for Exotics as they can open up new options for builds with their unique traits. Especially with the Hunter Exotic Ophidia Spathe.

How to Get Ophidia Spathe

While most Exotic Armor added to the game recently have dropped exclusively in Legend/Master Lost Sectors (albiet at a low drop rate), that is not the case for Ophidia Spathe. Ophidia Spathe is an Exotic for Hunters that can drop at random across any activity in the game. Random Exotic drops are rare, but players will eventually get one the longer they play.

Alternatively, if players do not want to rely on RNG alone there is another way. Every Friday, an NPC called Xur will show up at one of three destinations (the Tower, Nessus, or the EDZ). He will be there until the next weekly reset on the following Tuesday. Xur sells both Exotic weapons and armor along with Legendary weapons and armor from previous Seasons of Destiny 2 that are no longer obtainable by other methods.

Even if Xur is not selling Ophidia Spathe, he does offer a unique Exotic Engram that will be a guaranteed Exotic that players have not obtained. There are limitations to this Exotic Engram, so don't expect to see any raid Exotics in there. Starting in Season 21, players will also be able to focus Exotic Engrams. This will make it much easier to obtain Exotics while being less at the mercy of RNG, but this will be a more expensive option as it will cost one Exotic Engram, 30,000 Glimmer, and one Ascendant Shard.

What Does Ophidia Spathe Do?

When equipped Ophidia Spathe gives players one extra knife per melee charge. What this means is that players can throw two knives instead of just the one. Without any supporting Fragments or Aspects equipped, players will not get the most out of this Exotic. However, if they equip the Knock 'Em Down Aspect, killing an enemy with the throwing knife while radiant will result in the melee charge getting refunded.

Solar Hunters can easily become radiant by using the Ember of Torches Fragment. If players can maintain a rotation and kill enemies, while they are radiant, they will essentially never run out of knives to throw as long as they can maintain the buff. With Ophidia Spathe, the first knife will make players radiant, and then the second knife will begin the never ending combo of knives as long as players can get a kill.

Destiny 2 is available now on Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
