Destiny 2 received its second planned game update for December, which added Masterwork weapons, the ability to buy gear directly from vendors, and more. The game's developer, Bungie, is making ongoing changes to improve Destiny 2 in response to fan feedback about the game. As a part of Bungie's continued work in improving Destiny 2, the developer has told fans that it is looking to improve the new Heroic Strike playlist in a number of ways.

The Heroic Strike playlist was added to Destiny 2 in the Curse of Osiris expansion, which does not differ much from the usual strike playlist other than the fact that it raises the power level and gives out a greater amount of loot. But Bungie is looking at ways to make it a unique experience, differentiating it further from the standard strike playlist:

Moving forward, we are also looking to improve on Heroic Strikes, with new challenges, new Modifiers, and free access for all players.

Fans of Destiny 1 will remember that Heroic Strikes were a standard part of the game, and they also included modifiers from the start. Then in the Rise of Iron expansion, a scoring system was added to Heroic Strikes to players more incentive to explore the playlist. Unfortunately, the Destiny 2 playlist does not include anything that helps differentiate it from a regular strike. They are slightly more challenging because of the higher power level requirement but there is nothing to make them "more fun."

Currently, modifiers are absent from the playlist and the challenges that are in the playlist are the exact same as the normal strike playlist. In fact, it doesn't matter which strike playlist the player completes a challenge in; the progress is counted for both.

As for opening up access to the Heroic Strikes, Bungie is looking into this so that those that didn't purchase Curse of Osiris are not locked out of any content. In the future, that lockout will be rescinded and the playlist will open for everyone.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
