Destiny 2's fall expansion, Forsaken, is poised to add a lot to the game, from newly reworked weapon slots to a new PvE/PvP hybrid mode, Gambit. While those tend to be the headliners when it comes to Forsaken's features list, the DLC will also bring back one feature that will be familiar to veteran Destiny players—Daily Heroic Story Missions.

Daily Heroic Story Missions were added to Destiny 1 during The Taken King and challenged players to complete one random story mission each day at a higher Light level with additional modifiers. Bungie's Steve Cotton confirmed that Daily Heroic Story Missions will be making a return in Destiny 2 with the Forsaken expansion.

Interestingly, not only did these give players another activity to play and earn rewards from, but they also housed their own secrets, including one mission that would grant the Black Spindle exotic but only when it was the Daily Heroic Story Mission. So, while completely unconfirmed at this point (this is the first mention of even the addition of Daily Heroic Story Missions after all), the potential for secrets and hidden pursuits to make their way back into the franchise is a possibility—something many hardcore fans have been asking for.

Cotton did say that Daily Heroic Story Missions will provide players a path to higher Power, so each day's mission will likely have the chance to drop gear that can help players in their pursuit to reach Forsaken's new Power level cap.

Little else was mentioned about this activity, but Bungie has promised that it will be talking much more about Forsaken throughout the summer leading up to its September release. So it's likely that players will have the chance to learn a bit more about Daily Heroic Story Missions on the path to launch.

Destiny 2: Forsaken releases on September 4, 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
