The Hawkmoon is an iconic Hand Cannon in the Destiny franchise. Hawkmoon first appeared in Destiny 1 alongside Thorn and The Last Word. Returning in Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Hawkmoon comes with its iconic look and two new ornaments that change its appearance. One fan has recreated the iconic Hand Cannon adorned with one of its new Ornaments, On Ashen Wings.
On Ashen Wings is one of the new Ornaments for Hawkmoon, which gives the gun a different darker color and more pronounced feathers to make the wings of the gun. While some Guardians prefer the classic look of the Hawkmoon, the On Ashen Wings Ornament has quickly become a fan favorite. The original Hawkmoon Ornaments are not currently in Destiny 2.
One Destiny fan, clonewolfstudio on Reddit and Instagram, has created a 100% resin replica of Hawkmoon with the On Ashen Wings Ornament from Destiny 2. Fully painted with enamel and acrylic paints, this full-scale replica is an impressive recreation that would be a great addition to any Destiny fan’s collection.
This Hawkmoon replica comes with a separate bullet cartridge and cylinder to further recreate the weapons reload style. Clonewolfstudio mentions using graphite powder over matte black paint to create the unique color of the On Ashen Wings Ornament. This combination of color and powder helps create a matte appearance while keeping a nice shine, similar to its in-game counterpart.
The attention to detail has not been forgotten on this Hand Cannon replica. Scratches, scuffs, and the various imperfections are given an appropriate amount of respect to their placement. The texture of the grip gives a nice worn leather appearance, showing just how important the details can be with something this iconic.
Measuring 16 inches long, this Hawkmoon replica is held together with some epoxy and CA glue with an accelerant. While this may not sound like much, the Hawkmoon replica appears to be sturdy enough.
