Back when Shadowkeep launched for Destiny 2, there were a ton of changes implemented for the game's hand cannons. The general expectation was that this would continuously be tweaked, with many requests since being aimed at buffing some of Destiny 2's hand cannons, and many feel that it has been a long time coming, specifically for the 110 and 140s.

However, Destiny 2 community manager Dmg04 has confirmed that there will not be any changes made to hand cannons in the next sandbox update. Many hoped he was referring to the 110 and 140s specifically, as that was the main focus of the Tweet (seen below), but Dmg04 would also go on Reddit later to confirm that there would be no changes to the 150 or 180s either. This is understandably a hot topic in the community who are wanting to see a better balance in the hand cannon meta.

It's not about the overarching meta game either, but just the choice and competition between hand cannons themselves. The way that they are currently set up makes it to where there's little reason to choose a 110 or a 140 hand cannon over a 150, which many do not appreciate. Ultimately, though, if the Destiny 2 community keeps speaking up for the hand cannons, it will likely happen eventually. Bungie is still collecting feedback and information on the hand cannons, so this doesn't rule out a buff at some point in the future -- just not the next sandbox update.

That doesn't mean fans should be expecting the current meta to stay the same, though. The recent TWAB highlighted a lot of upcoming nerfs in Destiny 2's season 10, which is making changes to certain weapons and archetypes, including shotguns, sniper rifles, swords, and certain exotics like Izanagi's Burden, Lord of Wolves, and the Last Word.

All things considered, it'll be interesting to see how these changes come into play in Season of the Worthy, and perhaps it'll be more interesting to see how hand cannons are eventually adjusted. Fans will just need to wait and see how Destiny 2's meta changes in the coming weeks.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
