With the release of the Grasp of Avarice dungeon in Destiny 2 players have been given a whole new activity to overcome and eventually trivialize by beating it on new challenge runs. While some players have gone so far as killing the final Grasp of Avarice boss with one melee hit, another player has gone on the other end of the spectrum and taken under-leveled gear into the activity for a painfully difficult attempt.

One player who goes by the name Holden A. Grenade online has posted an extended run of Grasp of Avarice that took almost two full hours to complete due to the constraints. However, even with low-level gear, and a severe lack of the special abilities that come with Destiny 2's exotic weapons and armor, the player still managed to conquer the impressive feat.

The specific restraint set on Holden A. Grenade was that the player was only allowed to use blue gear, including weapons and armor as well as the sparrow. In a follow-up post to the Destiny 2 subreddit, the player noted that the disarming mines section on the sparrow was among the most clutch moments within the run, thanks to the lower acceleration and top-speed of the vehicle. However, it looked like the most difficult segment might have been the first boss Phry'zhia, which is described in the video and Reddit post as the ultimate run-killer, which is fortunately early on.

To make the impressive use of such weak gear even more impressive, Holden A. Grenade managed to not only complete the activity without the two extra players most fireteams jump in with, but also pulled off a flawless victory. This means that across the entire two-hour run, the player wasn't allowed to die at any point throughout the run or they wouldn't qualify for being a flawless run. While pulling off flawless solo runs of Destiny 2's dungeons is nothing new, these runs are often made more manageable with high-level gear and special perks from modded legendary and exotic weapons and armor.

It appears that there really is no limit to what players can accomplish when stretching the limits of Destiny 2's most challenging activities by putting difficult constraints on themselves. The inspiration for these runs is also interesting, as it appears this all blues run was started by a question posed by the players wife when clearing out blue gear from the vault. Between testing out Destiny 2's new boss melting strategies, pushing player skill, and the occasional joke run, fans are constantly raising the bar for impressive feats on new activities.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
