Destiny 2 remains Bungie's major project, and a serious landmark in the current gaming scene. While there are hints at a new major title from Bungie on the way, Destiny 2 remains the go-to for players for the foreseeable future.

As a game with a particularly long history, Destiny 2 has had its share of ups and downs. One of the current downs, as pointed out by fans, is the state of one particular Super Ability. This is the ultimate power for one of Destiny 2's subclasses, in this case one possible path for the Gunslinger and its hard-hitting Golden Gun. To put it bluntly, the Gun's not working properly.

The Golden Gun is, by design, an almost guaranteed one hit kill weapon. It takes time to charge up the Gunslinger's Super, and there is a longer range option available. So the Golden Gun of the Upper Tree, modeled after The Last Word, is, like its Goldeneye namesake, essentially a one hit kill. However, some players have noticed that the gun's effective range has been drastically shortened, and this is not supposed to be the case. While the best exotic weapons in Destiny 2's meta do receive regular nerfs, they are not supposed to carry over to Supers, which seems to be the case here.

See, the Golden Gun is unique among Supers in that it is tied directly to actual Exotic Weapons. In the case of the Upper Tree Golden Gun, the one hit by the bug, it is tied to The Last Word, a hand cannon. Since hand cannons recently had their stats changed, the Golden Gun's range fell too, and now it doesn't apply full damage at the proper range. Destiny 2 fans are quick to offer suggestions for broken systems, and the suggestion for this one has come quickly: fix the range.

To be more specific, players want the Golden Gun to no longer be directly connected to hand cannons. That way it won't need to be fixed every time hand cannon stats get a change. Bungie has addressed player comments on unpopular changes before, so hopefully the Golden Gun will get the same treatment.

When functioning properly, the Golden Gun is one of the biggest draws for taking the Gunslinger class. Powerful on its own, it can also synergize with the Celestial Nighthawk exotic. Hopefully it will soon be back at full power and players' kills will once again be guaranteed.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
