With the Season of the Drifter beginning in Destiny 2, players are being treated with plenty of new exotics. These include the Arbalest, Liar's Handshake, Stronghold, Getaway Artist, the return of Thorn, and more. The roadmap indicates more exotics will be added this season, though these have yet to be revealed. However, it seems possible that one of these as-of-yet unnamed exotics could be the real Gjallarhorn.

Before moving forward, it's worth mentioning that this isn't confirmed, but that there is a small amount of evidence that Destiny 2 is bringing back Gjallarhorn. It may not be in the same exact form, it could possibly be a troll, or it could be something that takes a lot of time to unlock fully. Yet if Gjallarhorn is returning in some form, that's likely to excite many Destiny players, as Gjallarhorn is one of the most iconic Destiny weapons.

On Light.gg, a database for Destiny weapons and gear (and more), there's a listing for a new weapon called the Midnight Special. While it does not share the Gjallarhorn name, the weapon icon is definitively one of Gjallarhorn. Adding to this evidence is the weapon's description, as reads "a convincing (though non-functional) replica of a fabled weapon." This Destiny 2 description suggests then that it is a Gjallarhorn replica.

What this exactly means remains to be seen, as the Midnight Special could be something needed in getting the real fabled weapon that is Gjallarhorn. As previously mentioned, it could also simply be a troll by Bungie to excite, but poke fun at players who think they get a Gjallarhorn drop, which is YouTuber Mesa Sean's theory. It is also possible that this replica will be used in the quest steps to unlock the real Destiny 2 Gjallarhorn, in a manner similar to the broken Thorn.

While details for this Gjallarhorn replica and whether the real Gjallarhorn is returning are sparse, another weapon that is known to return for sure is the Thorn on March 12th. And for those excited to unlock the weapon, the Destiny 2 quest steps for Thorn have also been revealed.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
