As part of the new Joker's Wild content update, Destiny 2 players can now complete the quest to retrieve Thorn, the popular exotic hand cannon. Several steps are involved, but one namely involves the player checking out the Spider's Black Market Good list for an item known as "The Jerky." However, what may catch players' eyes is Spider's stock of older Destiny items, with what appears to be the Gjallarhorn in there as well.

This gag Gjallarhorn has been known about for a few days, as it was revealed through a database of Destiny 2 gear. This item, actually known as the Midnight Special, is a replica of the original Gjallarhorn and led to much speculation about Bungie bringing back the fan-favorite rocket launcher. Others believed it would be a gag, and as it turns out, that is exactly what it is — for now anyway.

There are two notable details for Spider's inventory. First, it's worth mentioning that purchasing any of the available items requires currencies that no longer exist, are impossible to come by, or are priced beyond reason, with the Midnight Special specifically being priced at 20 exotic engrams, the rarest drop in Destiny 2. Beyond that, the Midnight Special is not the only gag or silly throwback to be found in the Black Market Good list.

Other items include an imprisoned Ghost, a seedmind (a small Warmind), maps with coordinates outside the known solar system, keys to New Monarchy rep Executor Hideo's Tower quarters, and Hadium Flakes, which was last seen in Destiny 1. Now, some Destiny 2 players may likely be disheartened by this Season of the Drifter gag, but it's worth mentioning that this gag could mean that the real Gjallarhorn will be added some day to Destiny 2. Perhaps retrieving this gag item (via another cheaper method) will tie into its quest, much like how a broken Thorn ties into its new quest. Howver, that remains speculation for now.

With April Fool's right around the corner, this may not be much of a surprise for anyone. But considering the popularity of the Gjallarhorn and its role as an iconic Destiny weapon, it would make sense to see it added to Destiny 2 some day, just not today.

Destiny 2: Season of the Drifter is live for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
