Fans of Destiny 2 are known for being vocal with their opinions on the game, including what it does well and what developer Bungie could improve with their popular MMO-FPS hybrid. One fan on the game's official subreddit took the initiative to propose a user interface overhaul for the interface to customize Guardians' faithful robotic Ghost companions, and the design was strong enough to catch Bungie community manager Cozmo23's eye.

Redditor TheSpaghetti suggests in a post on r/destinythegame that Bungie separate the appearance of Ghost Shells from the perk system, and instead allow a Ghost's perks to be chosen and hot-swapped at will by the player, with a system inspired by the Armor 2.0 system introduced into the game last year alongside the Shadowkeep expansion.

Other suggested changes include turning the XP-boosting Guiding Light perk into a bonus that can be unlocked in addition to other boosts rather than being granted at random. TheSpaghetti also proposed that Bungie open up the game's existing champion mod system to apply anti-barrier or stagger effects over ammo types, which would allow players to select a greater variety of weapons to play high-level and endgame content like Ordeal Nightfalls and The Sundial.

Bungie itself is also looking into improving the experience for Ghosts, according to Cozmo23. The community manager was unable to announce any formal changes, but complimented the design mockup, which mimics the existing look and feel of Destiny 2's menus and UI admirably. Fans will probably have to wait a while to see Bungie's own solutions, but it isn't hard to imagine the studio landing on a similar set of fixes.

Destiny 2 has already seen a fair share of changes driven by the community since it launched in 2017, including the Armor 2.0 system, which was designed to solve a similar set of problems that existed with randomly-rolled perks on players' gear. Influence from the playerbase has been present since the days of the first Destiny, but fan feedback has recently become even more crucial for Bungie, who split from publisher Activision last year and have since taken complete control of the series' development and releases.

Destiny 2 and the Shadowkeep expansion are both out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
