The August showcase for Destiny 2 revealed what Bungie has concocted for the upcoming Lightfall expansion, which adds a new location in the form of Neomuna, a hidden city on Neptune. Neomuna is inhabited by a new race called Cloud Striders that will teach how to wield the powers of Strand to Guardians in order to fight the army of Calus and The Witness.

Cloud Striders also have interesting technology that was never shown apart from Destiny 2's Exo Stranger's companion, a fish-like creature. With Lightfall, players will be able to get their hands on another piece of technology from Neomuna -- the Quicksilver Storm Exotic auto rifle, which this guide explains how to get early.

Updated March 8, 2023 by Paul Woodward: When Season of Plunder was released back in August 2022, it included Quicksilver Storm as a bonus for players who pre-ordered the Annual Pass edition of Lightfall (or the Collector's Edition of the game). While this may sound like the gun is now no longer obtainable for players that missed out, that is thankfully not the case. It is still possible to obtain Quicksilver Storm, and this guide has been updated accordingly. With Lightfall now available, Destiny 2 players can also get the quest for the Quicksilver Storm catalyst. Here is how players can get Quicksilver Storm along with the catalyst to enhance this Exotic Auto Rifle.

How to Unlock Lightfall's Quicksilver Storm Exotic Auto Rifle

Currently, in order to get the Quicksilver Storm Exotic in Destiny 2, players need to purchase the Annual Pass edition of the Lightfall expansion, as the item is exclusive to that edition for now.

There are two different Lightfall editions that players can purchase, with only two of them coming with the Quicksilver Storm auto rifle in early access. The Destiny 2 Lightfall Standard Edition only includes the base expansion and some additional cosmetic items, and as such, the new Exotic weapon can be obtained exclusively by purchasing the Lightfall + Annual Pass edition or the Collector's Edition. At the time of this update, the Collector's Edition with a game code is no longer available on the Bungie Store.

The Collector's Edition that has no game code is still something that can be purchased by players. In that case, Destiny 2 players won't be obtaining the Lightfall expansion and the Quicksilver Storm auto rifle. The edition that has no game code is still available for $150.

Alternatively, players can simply wait until later this year when Season of the Deep (Season 21) begins. At this time, Quicksilver Storm will become available to all players.

How to Redeem the Quicksilver Storm Exotic Auto Rifle

After purchasing the appropriate Lightfall edition for Destiny 2, players will be able to immediately redeem the Quicksilver Storm Exotic in the game.

This can be done by traveling to the Tower and then talking to Master Rahool, who normally helps players decrypt their Engrams.

Players will be met with an Engram screen if they have leftover Prime or Umbral Engrams, which can be closed to proceed to the regular vendor screen for Master Rahool.

Here, Destiny 2 players will be able to claim the various bonus items from purchasing the Lightfall expansion, including the Quicksilver Storm auto rifle.

The weapon will be at 1600 Power Level, but players can infuse other weapons into it as normal.

Redeeming the Quicksilver Storm Exotic auto rifle can be done at any given moment, and all players who purchase the Annual Pass edition of Lightfall will be able to get this new exclusive weapon for free with the same method, regardless of the current Season.

How to Get the Quicksilver Storm Catalyst

Once Destiny 2 players have made sufficient progress in the Lightfall Campaign, they will be able to pick up the quest for the catalyst at the terminal near Nimbus in Neomuna. Just like with Quicksilver Storm, the catalyst quest is only available for players who have purchased the Annual Pass edition of Lightfall. Follow the quest steps (which can only be progressed on Neomuna) to acquire the catalyst.

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
