Destiny 2: Beyond Light has been out for over a month, and it has created a buzz around the community. Fans met with some old friends, dove into the fabled Deep Stone Crypt, and learned how to wield the Darkness. Regardless, the winter holidays are fast approaching, and The Dawning has returned to add a bit of lighthearted fun to the game. This year, the event features a new currency, called Dawning Spirit, that helps progress personal and community-wide quests.
The Dawning is a yearly tradition in Destiny, aiming to celebrate all that has transpired in the past year. The Tower sports some elegant night-time decor, the Eververse stocks new cosmetics, and Guardians chase new gear. Players are once again asked to bake gifts using the oven of Eva Levante, the event handler, and deliver them to their respective NPCs.
There are two main quests in Dawning 2020 that concerns Dawning Spirit. The first is "And to All a Good Flight," which has steps tracking the player's Dawning Spirit earnings. The other is "Share the Dawning Spirit," which progresses as the entire community generates the currency. This quest will progress even if the player doesn't contribute, but there are ways to hasten the "And to All a Good Flight" quest.
To start, Eva Levante offers two weekly bounties that reward ten Dawning Spirit each. She also has four daily bounties rewarding two Dawning Spirit each. There are also infinitely repeatable bounties that ask players to deliver specific gifts. These give only one Dawning Spirit upon completion. However, delivering a gift to any character regardless of whether the player had a bounty will generate three Dawning Spirit, making the trouble of traveling to the NPC's location worthwhile.
Triumphs are a source of Dawning Spirit as well. The event brought nine Cookie Delivery triumphs that ask for deliveries to specific groups of NPCs. Each Cookie Delivery Triumphs rewards five Dawning Spirit when claimed. As players partake in this pursuit, they will inevitably upgrade their STARFARER 7M ship, which has a perk that gives players a chance to find Dawning Spirit whenever they get a Dawning ingredient to drop. This perk is only active when the ship is fully upgraded.
For those who have a surplus of ingredients but are short on Dawning Essence, Master Rahool can offer a way to farm Dawning Spirit. All players need to do is craft Burn Edge Transits, which happens when the player puts in a dud recipe inside the Oven. These don't progress any triumph or quest, but bringing them the Master Rahool will give the player one Dawning Spirit on top of refunding the Dawning Essence used in the recipe.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
