A new World First team has been crowned in Destiny 2, as a fireteam of six players beat the new Garden of Salvation raid for the first time a little over six hours after the raid released.

The winning team was from Clan Ascend and was comprised of players Antivist, Cyber, ExBlack, Monks, Narhzul, and Pash. The raid was completed 6 hours and 13 minutes after it launched at 10 a.m. PDT today.

It was a close race as Bungie revealed that the difference between the first and second place teams was just 2 minutes and 33 seconds. Clan Ascend was a bit of an underdog in the race for World First among higher-profile Destiny 2 streamers who have claimed World First titles in the past. It was an impressive run through the raid, especially against the final boss.

There are four main sections to the raid and two bosses. Players pursue the first boss through the first two encounters and then fight off against it in earnest in the third. The fourth encounter is the final boss fight of the raid, which is a complicated fight that involves teleporting across the map and back to set up a damage phase.

The World First team will receive a trophy belt as a reward for beating the raid before anyone else. The World First team did not receive the raid exotic like some of the past teams did, which was a purposeful move by Bungie to remove that feature as it caused confusion during the last World First race for the Crown of Sorrow raid. Anyone who beats the raid within the first 24 hours of its launch will get an exclusive emblem. And players who beat it before the weekly reset can purchase a raid jacket from Bungie's online store.

As of now, there has not been a big game-changing event that occurred with the World First team beating the raid like there was when The Last Wish was beaten. However, along with the release of the raid, Season of the Undying officially launched today. With that comes the activation of the Vex Invasion Zones on the Moon and the release of the Vex Offensive activity. Players will need to visit Ikora Rey to kick off a Vex Invasion quest that will pretty quickly unlock the Vex Offensive mode.

There is news developing about an exotic quest that has been found as well, but it is unknown if this quest is tied to the raid specifically or just has to do with the Season of the Undying in general with the additions of Vex Offensive.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
