While Halo Infinite was the reason why many gamers tuned in to the Xbox Games Showcase event, the real star of the show proved to be the Xbox Game Pass service. Microsoft's gaming subscription service was given a significant boost by the Xbox Games Showcase event, as every title on display was confirmed to be coming to Xbox Game Pass day one. This includes Destiny 2's upcoming Beyond Light expansion, though it was unclear if Bungie's popular looter-shooter would be coming to the PC version of Game Pass as well.

The official Xbox Game Pass Twitter account has since provided some clarification. While Destiny 2 and its previously released expansions will be coming to Game Pass on Xbox One beginning in September, those on PC will have to wait until 2021. This is unfortunate news for PC gamers who are looking forward to the Destiny 2: Beyond Light expansion, as it would have been a considerably less expensive way to jump into the new content come November 10. However, those who are willing to wait can look forward to playing through the entire Destiny 2 saga on PC Game Pass in 2021.

It's unclear why there is a delay for Destiny 2 on PC coming to Game Pass when compared to the console versions, but at least it's been confirmed that it is coming eventually.

Destiny 2 and its expansions coming to Xbox Game Pass is a pretty big deal regardless, as it should result in a big boost to the game's player count. In turn, this will help Bungie maintain the Destiny 2 community in the years to come, which it will need to do since it doesn't plan on developing Destiny 3 at any point in the near future.

Destiny 2 coming to Game Pass wasn't the only way the game was featured at the Xbox Games Showcase event. A new Destiny 2: Beyond Light trailer was also released, showcasing the new Stasis ability that fans will be able to utilize once the expansion drops later this year.

The Destiny 2: Beyond Light expansion was delayed from its originally planned release date of September, but these extra months of development should help Bungie meet fan expectations come November.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light launches November 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions to follow.
