Bungie has announced a significant increase in reputation earned from Destiny 2's Gambit game mode. Gambit is still part of Destiny 2's core playlists, even if most players are choosing to play other modes ahead of it.Since Destiny 2 was initially released in 2017, it has become one of the leading first-person shooters in gaming. Bungie has done everything to ensure its post-Halo offerings have enough to satisfy gamers, with a major expansion released every year since launch. Destiny 2's 2019 move to a free-to-play model also significantly helped the game, as it expanded the possible audience to millions more players. With the Lightfall expansion releasing soon, Destiny 2 will remain a key player in the multiplayer first-person shooter genre for years to come. News on a potential Destiny 3 is quiet for now, although it's definitely possible that fans will hear more in the next few years, after the release of 2024's The Final Shape expansion.RELATED: Destiny 2 Player Spots a Curious Lightfall Reference to Old Seasonal ActivitiesThe information about Gambit's increase in reputation came directly from Destiny 2's Twitter account, announcing that the increase will last until the end of Season 19, Season of the Seraph. Destiny 2 Season 19 will run until February 28, giving players plenty of time to jump into Gambit. It remains to be seen whether the move will help revive Gambit, with the game's other PvP mode, Crucible, proving more popular with the Destiny 2 community.

This move comes as a surprise to fans, with the Gambit game mode not receiving any new content since Season 6. One frustrated fan replied to the news on Twitter, saying, "All we (gambit enjoyers) want is updates to gambit. Or a new map. Or an old map." There is definitely a fan appetite for more Gambit content. With only four maps in the current map pool and two maps vaulted like other older Destiny 2 content, players feel that a change is long overdue. It's possible that Bungie will show more interest in revamping the mode once the Lightfall expansion is released.

Gambit was first introduced in 2018's Forsaken expansion pack. The game mode has been recently causing problems for players ahead of the game's Lightfall expansion, with glitches causing a number of issues with Gambit. Frustrating glitches combined with a severe lack of content have led players to turn away from Gambit in favor of other game modes. It's not too little too late, however. There is a dedicated fan base that still has the potential to grow if given the right attention from the developer.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
