There are some key changes coming to Gambit in Destiny 2 along with Season 5 later this month.

One of the main complaints about Gambit among the most dedicated and hardcore fans is the catch-up mechanic that helps the opposing team gain ground after summoning the Primeval second. Destiny 2 designer Robbie Stevens says the Primeval buff is changing in Season 5 so that the trailing team only receives one Primeval Slayer buff instead of several. As a result, the leading team should have an easier time keeping its advantage and the losing team will have to work harder to truly catch up.

The next set of changes should make Gambit feel more rewarding to players. First, Gambit bounties will now award double the amount of Infamy rank points than they do currently. In addition, many of the bounties have had their objectives adjusted "to take less time and be easier to complete." In addition to those changes to Gambit bounties, subdivision rank-ups of Infamy will now grant Legendary Gambit gear. Previously, only completely new tiers of Infamy would reward Legendaries while subdivision rank-ups (such as Heroic I, II, and III) would only award blue, Rare-quality items.

Bungie also mentioned a few other changes including a new daily bounty that requires Primeval envoy kills. While plenty know about the importance of the envoys, many may not be aware that killing them helps build the Primeval Slayer buff and clears the area around the Primeval. Fans have been asking for weeks for Bungie to add some incentive to kill the envoys, as many teammates simply don't realize how important killing them is.

The developer will also be squashing a bug having to do with the Ascendant Primeval that did not properly award credit to the correct team who defeated it. Recently, Destiny 2 buffed the appearance rate for the Ascendant Primeval, making it easier for players to kill it and start the Malfeasance quest.

These all look to be very positive and welcome changes for Gambit. They will launch on November 27, when Season 5: Season of the Forge begins.

Destiny 2: Forsaken is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
