Ever since the launch of Destiny 2: Forsaken, players have been on one mystery after another. Sometimes, it was on how to unlock the Malfeasance Hand Cannon. Other times, it was finding another wish for the infamous Forsaken Raid's wishing wall. Now, Bungie has weighed in on the latter, giving players new details about the feature.

In a recent interview, Destiny 2 raid team lead Joe Blackburn discussed how they wanted it to feel like "the cheat codes of old" and how they intentionally made the symbols as confusing as possible. He first revealed that the Vault of Glass raid was a big inspiration for the wishing wall, as they wanted to include the same spectrum of mystery in this raid. Essentially, Blackburn's team wanted to keep players guessing on whether or not there was more.

Blackburn also revealed that the wishing wall was internally called the GameShark for some time. His team wanted to hit on the retro vibe of shared cheat codes, so this makes a lot of sense. In order to do that, they also changed the symbols to create as much confusion as possible.

For example, at one point, the symbol that has been commonly referred to as the "boring bird" once had a snake at its feet. The team changed it because it would be easily identified as the "snakebird" and would make the codes too easy. They wanted the naming system to come from the community as it did because that is one way players become experts of the content. After all, some of these wishes aren't exactly easy once entered into the wall.

Of course, while all of this is enlightening, it doesn't really help players who struggle with the wishing wall. For those players, we've compiled a guide on how to activate every wish in the Last Wish raid.

Destiny 2: Forsaken is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
