Destiny 2 Forsaken Making Changes to Nightfall and Strike Playlists

Destiny 2's Year 2 and the Forsaken expansion will make major changes to how strikes work in the game, from Heroic, Nightfalls, and the normal strike playlist.

As developer Bungie pulls back the veil further on Destiny 2: Forsaken, the game's major fall expansion, a number of significant changes to what players have come to know about Destiny 2 is completely changing. One of those aspects has to do with the strike activities in the game. In this week's blog posted by Bungie, the developer covered how regular, Heroic, and Nightfall strikes are changing come August 28.

First off, the Heroic Strike playlist is being completely removed from the game. While being a much-asked-for addition to the game that was added post-launch, a new strike playlist setup in Year 2 with varying Power levels and modifiers will replace the Heroic strike playlist.

For those who purchase the Forsaken DLC, the strike playlist will now offer three tiers of difficulty: 300, 400, and 500 Power. Once a player surpasses 40 Power levels above each playlist, that particular playlist will no longer be selectable. That means, once a player hits 340 (which many players may already be in the game) the 300 Power strike playlist will disappear, then once a player reaches 440, the 400 Power playlist will be removed. The 500 Power strike playlist will never be removed, even once players reach the 600 Power level cap.

Destiny 2 Forsaken Adds Bounties, Harder Lost Sectors With New Bosses

For those who don't purchase Forsaken (dubbed Legacy Players), they will keep the current strike playlist with a recommended Power level of 200. Because Heroic Strikes are being removed, this 200 Power playlist will also be getting modifiers. As a special note, modifiers will not be active in any playlist the week between when the August 28 update hits and the release of Forsaken on September 4.

The Nightfall is also getting a major change—there will no longer be a Prestige difficulty. Instead, the base difficulty of the strike will increase. Bungie also revealed that players will be able to choose from three different Nightfalls per week giving them the ability to chase strike-specific loot they may be looking for.

This is one of many significant changes coming with the August 28 game update, including reworked weapon slots and more.

Destiny 2: Forsaken releases September 4, 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
