With the launch of Game Informer’s month-long coverage of Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion, many fans are jumping to conclusions about what will be coming with the expansion this fall. One line in particular from Game Informer’s article has Reddit in quite a stir, leading some fans to believe that one long-lost race will be making a comeback in Destiny 2.

The race in question is the Ahamkara, a race of dragons that could grant wishes. The dragons are thought to be killed off during the Great Ahamkara Hunt, where Guardians slew nearly every dragon in the solar system, because the Vanguard believed them to be too powerful. Some remnants of the race still remain in the form of armor pieces, which sometimes grant hints and clues about the future of the game.

The quote that sparked the crazy discussion from the Game Informer article is: “Virtually drawn from the page of a classic fantasy novel, this is the elven homeland under threat from an insidious dragon that has infected its heart.”

Fans are specifically focusing on the “insidious dragon” element, but ignoring the context of the quote. The metaphor is likely just that – a metaphor. While it would be great to see Ahamkara flying around the vast Dreaming City, it’s a long shot. According to the article, The Taken have corrupted parts of the Dreaming City, and Guardians must venture in to put a stop to the blight. The Taken are the metaphorical dragon.

While Guardians may not face an Ahamkara in the Dreaming City, they will still go on an epic adventure during the Keep of Voices raid. The Dreaming City contains a lot of content for players to tackle, including secrets and public events, so even if they’re not facing a dragon, the adventure will likely still be fantastic.
