Effective immediately, Bungie is lowering the power level requirements for Destiny 2’s new Forge activity. Previously, players were encountering enemies between 615 and 630 power in the Volundr Forge, but those numbers have been lowered by 5.

According to Bungie, the power level decrease is meant to give Black Armory and Annual Pass owners a better path towards completing new activities. No doubt players at or below 600 will still face a challenge, but the barrier to entry for new content is slightly lower.

Since Black Armory’s launch yesterday, fervent debates have been ongoing within the Destiny 2 community. While some appreciated the challenge presented by the new Forge, others were disappointed that the only way to access the activity was to grind the same challenges for power. In essence, Bungie was keeping players away from accessing the content they paid for by way of a power level.

And for those who still feel beat down by the grind, Bungie says that this will not be the only change made to the game after gathering feedback from Black Armory owners. The developer doesn’t give any clues, but we’d suspect that it might be easier to acquire power level increases for those players who are under 600 power.

This is not the first time that Bungie has looked at a piece of Destiny 2 content and changed its difficulty, but it is certainly the quickest response. Back in Year 1, Bungie eventually lowered the power level of Escalation Protocol so that 3-player fireteams could complete the activity. In fact, it was the lessons learned with EP that helped Bungie and Vicarious Visions refine the concept of the Forges and add matchmaking, which makes it strange that they couldn’t have seen this response coming.
