The Halloween event for Destiny 2, Festival of the Lost, has arrived and is live until November 8th. Since October 2021, Festival of the Lost has seen some pretty extensive changes. One of those changes is a seasonal currency known as Spectral Pages. These strange-looking pages can only be deciphered by killing Headless Ones in Haunted Sectors. But as players progress, they will need to decipher progressively more pages to unlock entries in the Book of the Forgotten, located at the tower next to Eva Levante. Here is how Destiny 2 players can farm Spectral Pages.

Updated October 17, 2023 by Paul Woodward: It certainly wouldn't be a year of Destiny 2 without Festival of the Lost. While reception to Festival of the Lost has mixed views across the community there is no denying that the decorations and music in the Tower will help anyone get into a festive mood for the spookiest time of the year. For the most part, Festival of the Lost has not changed much since it's overhaul in 2021. There is a new weapon to pursue, Horror Story has rolls that make it worth using again, and players can delve into Haunted Sectors on a higher difficulty. But before going into Haunted Sectors, players will need to make sure they have farmed some Spectral Pages so that they can get Manifested Pages.

How to Get Spectral Pages

Aside from the first three pages that players get when starting the introduction quest, Destiny 2 players will need to get more Spectral Pages by completing activities in the game, just like in the previous year. Of course, there is a twist to it.

In order to get the pages to drop after completing an activity, players will need to make sure they are wearing a Festival of the Lost mask. During the introduction quest, players receive a helmet that looks like a creepy paper mache mask of the character Master Rahool. If players have unlocked other Festival of the Lost ornaments, they can use those instead of the default appearance of Master Rahool. The mask that players are using won't matter, as that is entirely a cosmetic choice.

How to Get Manifested Pages

Manifested Pages can only be obtained by having Spectral Pages when running Haunted Sectors. Every time Destiny 2 players kill a Headless One in a Haunted Sector, one Spectral Page will be converted into a Manifested Page. Manifested Pages can then be turned into the book located to the right of Eva Levante at the Tower. So if players want more Manifested Pages, they will want to farm as many Spectral Pages as they can.

How Many Spectral Pages Do Players Get Per Activity?

While Spectral Pages can be acquired from almost every activity in the game, the number of pages received varies greatly. Small, low-risk activities will reward significantly fewer Spectral Pages, while higher-risk activities will reward more.

For example, Public Events in the various Destinations will only reward two pages. Core playlist activities like Gambit, Strikes, and Crucible will reward up to five pages. Seasonal activities can award up to four pages. Nightfall Strikes reward five pages. So no matter what kind of activity players prefer, there are many ways of getting Spectral Pages.

How to Farm Spectral Pages

While there are many ways to earn Spectral Pages in Destiny 2 during the Festival of the Lost, not all methods are as efficient as others. While solo players could easily just do Public Events when they spawn, it is not a very efficient method. Llower tier Nightfalls were originally a good way to farm Spectral Pages, that is less the case now that Adept difficulty is no longer in the game. The key to farming spectral pages fast is to do it in activities that can be done quickly. So while Nightfalls are a good source of Spectral Pages, they will take longer to complete and can be slower if anything goes wrong and subsequently causes a wipe.

Playing in the Vanguard Ops playlists is a quick and efficient way to farm Spectral Pages in a low-risk setting. They may only reward three to five pages per completion, but they can be done much faster than Nightfalls. This is especially the case in Vanguard Ops if a premade group jumps in and doesn't have to wait for Matchmaking to find other players. A well-geared, highly-skilled Fireteam could easily get far more than 20 Spectral Pages per hour by farming strikes in Vanguard Ops as well.

Destiny 2 is now available for Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
