A popular post on the Destiny 2 subreddit has many players calling for Bungie to add more anti-champion features to exotic weapons that otherwise don't get much love. Specifically, players feel that there are not enough exotic weapons meant to counter the barrier and overload champions that can be fought in Bungie's MMO First-Person shooter. The original post on the r/DestinytheGame subreddit is less than a day old, but has already gained steam with thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments.

In the original post, Reddit user thelegoman0 offered very specific suggestions and examples for adding more anti-champion features to Destiny 2's existing arsenal of exotic weapons and armor. The user suggested that the Wish-Ender bow, the Sleeper Simulant heavy fusion rifle, and the D.A.R.C.I. sniper rifle would all make fitting anti-barrier weapons. As for some appropriate anti-overload exotics, thelegoman0 offered the Malfeasance hand cannon, the Hard Light auto rifle, and the Anarchy grenade launcher as possible options. In an edit after the original post, the user also threw in the Le Monarque bow as another good anti-barrier choice.

Over 200 other Reddit users have chimed in with their thoughts on the OP's suggestions. The top comment, with over 600 upvotes, was from aviatorEngineer, who agreed that adding overload features to a bow would make them much more appealing to use. This sentiment sparked a longer conversation about Bungie's method of designing and releasing new exotic weapons. User imagowastaken suggested that the developer wants to encourage the use of different loadouts with each season.

The release of the Destiny 2 expansion Shadowkeep introduced three previously unseen types of champions into the game, each of which require a specific mod or weapon type to destroy: Barrier, Overload, and Unstoppable champions. Barrier champions act like normal enemies until players have taken down about half of their health, at which point an impenetrable barrier will appear around the champion while it begins to regenerate. Only weapons with the Shield-Piercing feature can break this barrier, so adding that to a weapon like Wish-Ender - which can pierce through multiple enemies and track targets through walls - would make it an extremely appealing option for players to use in combat.

Overload champions act much more aggressively than normal enemies and will pursue players right up until their death. The counter for these enemies is to equip a Disrupt mod on a weapon or empower Void grenades to become Overload grenades. Turning Anarchy's Arc wire trip mines into Overload mines as thelegoman0 suggests does sound appealing, but potentially overpowered. Fans will have to wait and see if the developers will take their suggestions to heart and add some innate anti-champion features to exotic weapons in the future.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is now available PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
