It's no major secret that Destiny 2 has caught a lot of flak since its release in September of last year, with many fans vowing not to return to the sci-fi shooter until Bungie addresses the player base's concerns regarding the Eververse and a plethora of other issues. While many Guardians are on a self-imposed strike from the game, some are actively studying the title in its current state in order to offer suggestions to Bungie so as to improve it. In fact, one player dissatisfied with the developer's design for the Infinite Forest decided to build a mock-up of the location to illustrate some refinements that could be made in the future.

As seen in the video below from the YouTuber and Guardian known as Pheonise, the Destiny 2 player lays out why the Infinite Forest was so disappointing in the first place, explaining that although it was originally billed as a repeatable activity, it ends all too quickly with monotonous enemies and kicks folks out entirely until they pick up a quest. As an improvement, Pheonise makes the area truly infinite, with players being able to earn a loot chest at the end of a segment, and then have the ability to keep going as much as they want for more rewards.

Although the assets in Pheonise's clip look a bit rudimentary, it's worth noting that he didn't have the chance to work with Destiny 2's pre-existing code base. With that being the case, it's definitely an impressive bit of work from a single developer mocking it all up in just two days. Plus, the simple layout of the level is all one really needs to see to understand the fundamental concept of how players would be able to "infinitely" experience the forest.

All things considered, Pheonise did a wonderful job illustrating how Bungie could fully realize the potential in Destiny 2's Infinite Forest, and he did so with just a little bit of elbow grease. And as ever, the game's developer has indicated that it's listening to the fan base, with Community Manager David "DeeJ" Dague recently stating, "We have a lot to talk about in 2018." So, it will be interesting to see just how the studio will address the complaints regarding Destiny 2's Infinite Forest and the state of the game as a whole this year.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
