Destiny 2 has changed quite a bit since it was released in 2017. From free-to-play content to changes with the Eververse and Bright Dust, the game has adapted to try and meet the needs of its players. While various elements have changed, one part of the game that has remained since launch is Engrams. Recently, one fan tried to recreate one of these iconic items from Destiny 2 in Blender.

Blender is a 3D computer graphics software. As a free and open-source application, many people have access to its toolset. Despite being free, the software boasts a powerful set of features for creating amazing artwork and animations. Over the years, numerous creative fans have shown off stunning creations in Blender.

Recently, one gamer used the software’s powerful features to make Engrams from Destiny 2. In a post on Reddit, the user known as JavanNapoli shared images of their design of the items. One highlight was that the creator made different colored versions of the Engrams: white, green, blue, purple, and yellow. Each of these colors corresponded to the rarities found in the game. In addition, the artist managed to use lighting to enhance the multifaceted design of the Engrams. These new designs were made even more impressive considering that the creator had just finished learning the basics of Blender.

Along with showing off their work, JavanNapoli revealed some of the details behind the design process. According to the creator, they used a dodecahedron as the basic shape and beveled the edges. They then “extruded the main faces inwards and scaled them in to give it a bit more complexity.” For the inner parts of the Engram, the artist “extruded the corners out and cloned/scaled it down a bunch of times, fit all the clones inside of each other, and parented all of the inner objects to the outer shell.” JavanNapoli also revealed that the design took around two to three hours to complete, but it only required roughly one minute for the software to render.

These beautiful renders of Engrams have become popular with the Destiny 2 community on Reddit. With over 6,400 upvotes in only two days, fans thought they looked nearly identical to those found in the game. In addition, many were impressed that the artist managed to create such a detailed design after only starting to learn Blender.

Besides these beautiful Engrams, many other fans of Destiny 2 have been making art based on the game. Recently, one fan used a 3D printer to make a replica of the Whisper of the Worm sniper rifle. With many characters, weapons, and items, Destiny 2 has no shortage of options for talented artists to recreate. With these 3D renders of Engrams complete, it will be interesting to see what other types of creations JavanNapoli makes in the coming days.

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
