This week brought a brand new quest to Destiny 2 players involving the Warmind Rasputin and the former Iron Lord Felwinter. While players know the ultimate reward leads back to the classic Destiny shotgun Felwinter's Lie, this quest also appears to carry some important narrative to it as well. Speculation on what this could mean for the game's story continues to be a hot topic in the community and has only gone up since Bungie made another recent reveal.

Late last week, veteran actor Tom Skerritt posted a picture of himself in a virtual meeting with numerous employees at Bungie including Pete Parsons, David Dague, Amy Johnson, and more. The nature of the meeting wasn't disclosed but due to a paper Skerritt is holding, many believe he's providing voice lines for Destiny 2 of some sort. Skerritt is a big name in the industry, having a lengthy history in the TV and film industry with roles like Viper from Top Gun, Dallas from Alien, Jimmy Brock from Picket Fences, David Drumlin from Contact, and much more.

Following the reveal, fan speculation has skyrocketed as to who the veteran actor would be playing. With such a major focus having recently been placed on the Iron Lord Felwinter and his iconic shotgun, most of the theories began there. However, the consensus appears to be that it's far too late for Felwinter as Bungie typically creates and finishes these seasons months in advance, a large reason why it takes the developer a season or two to pivot and change certain things that the community doesn't like.

Some theorize that perhaps Felwinter is destined to become an NPC like Saint-14, perhaps getting introduced at the end of this season and then becoming a bigger focus in the next. The announcement could be in advance of an upcoming cinematic or in-game moment that introduces the character.

Other guesses from the community seem to think Skerritt is going to be voicing a recently risen Guardian, an exo with memory loss, or perhaps audio recordings of Clovis Bray himself. Ambitious users have even managed to zoom in on the paper Skerritt is holding in the picture and discovered a few of the words and phrases like "on what I am", " me(?) dangerous(?)", "what you are", and more. Nothing that ultimately gives anything away unfortunately.

Either way, this appears to be another sign that big things are coming to the game in 2020. Not only has Bungie been detailing how it aims to fix many of the game's current issues going forward, but director Luke Smith has also begun hyping up fans by saying they're not ready for what the studio has coming in the fall. With the Darkness finally making it's slow approach to The Last City, many fans are looking forward to finally taking the fight to the ancient enemy of the traveler.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
