Destiny 2 players received a bit of exciting news yesterday as Bungie confirmed that the studio is hosting another livestream next week in order to reveal what it has planned for year 2. Details will likely be held off for E3 in a few weeks, but fans will get a glimpse at what's coming. More changes are coming as early as next week with the return of Faction Rallies. In preparation, Bungie has detailed how the event has evolved including a new rule change which should have an interesting effect on fan participation overall.

One of the biggest changes to Faction Rallies inside of season 3 is that pledging to a particular faction can only be done once per account rather than per character. This means that once players select a faction, they're linked with them with all characters. Developers at Bungie have previously said that the studio was looking for ways to make pledging to New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, and Future War Cult feel like a meaningful choice for Destiny 2 players. Without a way to pledge to multiple factions now, this is certainly one way the studio can achieve that goal.

With three planned rallies during season 3, Bungie has also confirmed that reputation is no longer going to be reset between events, even if players decide to change allegiances. Adding an interesting layer to this change is the fact that each faction now has a dedicated vendor that offers unique rewards, Exotic armor ornaments, and Masterwork Catalysts for certain Exotic weapons. Each faction also appears to be aligned somewhat with a particular class featuring ornaments for specific exotics like the Eye of Another World from Dead Orbit, Knucklehead Radar from Future War Cult, and Crest of Alpha Lupi from New Monarchy.

With the latest Faction Rally on the horizon, it'll be interesting to see if Future War Cult can finally earn a win as New Monarchy consistently dominated the field in season 2. Based on the rewards, however, it does appear that Dead Orbit has an advantage by offering an exotic catalyst for the extremely popular pulse rifle, Graviton Lance. It'll take some skill to earn, however, as players will need to first hit rank 50 with the group. The effort seems well worth it as the catalyst improves the weapon by adding additional range and aim assist, while also adding the hidden hand perk.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
