While a large portion of Destiny 2 players is able to enjoy the new Black Armory expansion that launched last week, there is a subset who cannot. Instead of the new forge activity and the Scourge of the Past raid, these players have been met with error code after error code, to the point it is actually hurting their experience.

In the Northeastern part of the United States, Destiny 2 players have struggled to gain access to the game since the launch of Black Armory on December 4th. Error codes like grape and fig have booted these players back to orbit and in some cases locked them out of activities. There have been a handful of forum posts with disgruntled players in the Northeast US explaining their plight and hoping for a solution, but no response. Any Bungie Twitter post is filled with replies highlighting the error codes and asking for some type of fix or at least acknowledgment.

Game Rant reader Alex S. shared his experience with these errors, including getting temporary bans from Gambit for quitting a match. Of course, Alex never quit any match; he simply got booted back to orbit by an error code. Getting disconnected from a match is one thing but to be banned (even temporarily) is adding insult to injury.

No doubt this is a frustrating situation for a large part of the United States. It's unclear why the Northeast is affected, specifically, but it does seem to be a problem for Comcast subscribers more than anyone else. Alex lives in Massachusetts but he is just one of many that have been trying to get Bungie's attention and if not Bungie, Comcast.

Luckily, Bungie has finally acknowledged the issue, or at least three error codes: fig, grape, and elderberry. However, it doesn't seem as though a fix is coming later today, when Bungie launches the Dawning update for its annual holiday event. So, those players affected are unlikely to enjoy the event or collect any of the holiday-themed loot it includes.

There are some solutions, though, including port forwarding and setting up a DMZ host for a router. But workarounds are not going to be for everybody and they won't always be successful.

Hopefully, Bungie can resolve the grape, fig, and elderberry errors quickly, so that these Destiny 2 players can enjoy the Black Armory content that they paid for. If nothing else it's important to keep a spotlight on this issue and let others know that they are not alone.

Destiny 2: Black Armory is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
