Last week, Destiny 2 developer Bungie detailed its plans to make Enhancement Cores easier to get in the game. But many fans are saying the upcoming changes are not enough to make an impact in the scarcity problems currently associated with Enhancement Cores.

To review, players have long complained about how hard it is to find Enhancement Cores in Destiny 2, which are a requirement for infusing gear to higher levels. The requirement can prove very limiting in allowing players using the loadouts and favorite gear that they want while they level up.

Bungie explained that the scarcity is purposeful to make the choice to infuse gear impactful. The upcoming changes look to balance that with players wanting more access to Enhancement Cores by making them a guaranteed drop from new Gunsmith bounties following the removal of Scrapper bounties.

To be fair, there are plenty of fans who are of the opinion that Enhancement Cores are serving their purpose, believing that players should not be infusing gear constantly but being much more selective with Infusion. However, there's a large group of players who are still not happy about the upcoming changes.

But a majority of players want Enhancement Cores to be removed from Infusion completely. Players have developed methods of how to farm Enhancement Cores, but it seems like the days of players wanting to go to those lengths to get the prized consumable are dwindling quickly. It seems that a full removal is not currently in the works due to Bungie's position of having scarcity drive the value of Infusion, but it is possibly the most popular position among fans.

Another position is more of a middle ground, that scarcity of Enhancement Cores is okay, but that the scarcity needs to be adjusted giving players more access to them. That definitely looks to be the goal of the upcoming addition of Gunsmith bounties, but only time will tell if it is enough or if players will feel like even more sources need to be added.

Speaking of time, another complaint about these latest changes is that they won't go into effect until Season of Opulence, which doesn't begin until sometime in June. Considering the fact that Season of Drifter just began, waiting an entire season for these changes to take effect feels like an especially long time to wait.

Bungie said in its weekly blog that it will continue to monitor Enhancement Cores in Destiny 2, but unless the developer says otherwise, it does not seem like any meaningful adjustments will be coming to the game until Season 7.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
