This week, Destiny 2 launched its new Dawning holiday event, which is mostly focused on cosmetics from Eververse and the return of the Mayhem mode. But it also brought with it a backend update to Destiny 2’s game files, which have, in turn, given way to some new leaks.

Previously, we detailed the rumors regarding the new story content in Destiny 2’s second DLC, which is reportedly called Heralds of Nezarec. However, the purported leak also offered some info about the DLC’s addition to the Leviathan raid in the form of a new raid lair.

While there is no way to confirm if any of the new info is true, the latest data mine claims that the second Destiny 2 raid lair will be called Prison of Nightmares and will be set exclusively in Calus’ Shadow Realm. For those that might not be familiar with the Leviathan raid, there is a section in the Calus Boss Fight where he teleports the fireteam into a shadow realm. It’s a small area only visited briefly, but it certainly makes an impact.

According to the leak, players will be facing off against Psion and Fallen enemies while in the Shadow Realm, before eventually encountering Freeborn Otzot. To some, this name will ring a few bells, but all you need to know is he is the head of the Psion Flayers.

Of course, all of this information should be taken with a grain of salt, much like the leak about the second Destiny 2 expansion. The detail makes the leak seem legitimate but there is no way to confirm one way or another. We know that the second DLC will add a second raid lair to the Leviathan, but that could feature any type of environment and enemies.

That being said, Calus’ Shadow Realm does feel like an aspect to the Leviathan raid that is left unexplained and unexplored. Players are only transported to the area briefly and all we know for sure is that Calus is using some form of Psionic power to manifest this realm.

If the Shadow Realm is indeed the final stage for the second raid lair, then players may finally get some closure with regards to Calus and the Leviathan raid. It may be subtle, but the Eater of Worlds raid lair left many wondering if the raids are telling a larger story and this second raid lair could be Bungie’s chance to bring everything together.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
