Bungie confirms the popular Necrotic Grip set of Warlock Exotic gauntlets has been temporarily disabled in all Destiny 2 raids due to an ongoing issue. Destiny 2 players will not be able to use Necrotic Grip in the Lightfall expansion's new Root of Nightmares raid as Bungie investigates potential causes for a bug involving the gauntlets' unique ability. The Root of Nightmares raid recently launched in Destiny 2, giving players another challenge after completing the Lightfall Legendary campaign. Players who complete the new raid before March 21 may purchase an exclusive Root of Nightmares raid jacket through Bungie Rewards. However, Warlocks must go into the raid without the Necrotic Grip Exotic gauntlets since an issue provides an unfair advantage to the player in high-level content.RELATED: A Destiny 2 Exotic Makes Short Work of the Avalon MissionThe official Bungie Help Twitter account announced Necrotic Grip Warlock Exotic gauntlets are disabled in all raids for the foreseeable future in Destiny 2 due to an issue discovered by the development team. Players may continue to use Necrotic Grips in Destiny 2's strikes, dungeons, and seasonal content, but raids are out of the question until the issue is fixed. Bungie did not provide further details on the issue involving the Warlock gauntlets, but the active player community has already discovered the problem after using Edge of Intent and Vexcalibur glaives.

In the current Destiny 2 meta, the Necrotic Grip's Grasp of the Devourer perk appears to be overpowered when combined with the perks found on the Edge of Intent and Vexcalibur Exotic glaives. The Edge of Intent glaive generates energy with every single instance of damage inflicted by poison from the Necrotic Grip, allowing players to constantly spam Restorative Turrets. While using Vexcalibur, causing poison damage with Necrotic Grip continuously refreshes Void overshields for the player with every single damage tick. As a result, Bungie opted to disable the Exotic entirely in all raids as players explore the new Root of Nightmares raid.

Thus far, the Necrotic Grip's perk synergy with the Edge of Intent and Vexcalibur glaives appear to be the main source of the issue in Destiny 2. Since the Vexcalibur glaive refreshes a Void overshield, players may become invulnerable to enemy damage in a raid. Necrotic Grip would allow Edge of Intent wielders to spam Restorative Turrets, removing any semblance of danger since the player is continuously healed.

Bungie was quick to disable the Exotic before the Root of Nightmares raid went live. Players have already begun to debate Bungie's decision to disable the Necrotic Grip, but it appears that the decision was made with the intention of protecting Destiny 2's vision for challenging content in the Lightfall expansion.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
