Destiny 2 Guardians are getting ready to return to the Vault of Glass this weekend on May 22, 2021. For many Guardians in Destiny 2, this will be a return to a classic, fan-favorite raid. Guardians new to the Vault of Glass will be presented with a new challenge to overcome. Some excited and anxious Guardians may have already started preparing their loadouts for the upcoming return of Vault of Glass. However, for the Hunters, there appears to be some bad news they should keep in mind when preparing their loadouts for a day-1 run of the Vault of Glass.

In today's This Week at Bungie weekly blog post, Bungie outlined that the new Destiny 2 Hunter Exotic boots, Star-Eater Scales, will be disabled for the first 24 hours of the Vault of Glass being live. This is because there was an issue identified where some abilities were being granted a bit more damage than intended. Bungie did not detail what abilities were dealing more damage than intended and with the many ways that Star-Eater Scales stack with different things, it's unclear which abilities are being affected. While this may be bad news for some Hunters, many do not yet have a pair of the Star-Eater Scales Exotic boots, so they will not be hurt by Bungie's decision.

Hunters will still be useful in the Vault of Glass but will need to plan out a different Exotic. Fortunately for Hunters, there are other Destiny 2 Exotic options to take into Vault of Glass. The Exotic Chest, Omnioculus, with the bottom-tree Nightstalker is a great option for endgame PVE content and could be especially useful in the Vault of Glass. With Star-Eater Scales being disabled, Celestial Nighthawk is once again the highest damage dealing Exotic available to Hunters when paired with the bottom-tree Gunslinger Golden Gun.

Destiny 2 Hunters looking for a more subclass neutral Exotic option for Vault of Glass should look at the Aeon Swift Gauntlets. With Vault of Glass being a 6-Guardian activity, it should be easier to get a couple of other Guardians to run the Aeon Cult Exotics. Hunters also have Dragon’s Shadow to maximize utility and neutral gameplay. Combining both Hunter Dodge options into one to give reload across all weapons while refreshing a melee and activating Wraithmetal Mail for its multiple stat buffs is a grand thing for any Hunter.

Considering Bungie is only disabling the Star-Eater Scales for the first 24 hours of Vault of Glass, Hunters should be glad it is not a more severe hit to the Destiny 2 Exotic. With that said, Bungie has openly acknowledged that there is an issue, and that will most likely lead to a future nerf of these Hunter Exotic boots.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
