Destiny 2 is one of the biggest games out there at the moment, with huge file sizes and lots of different elements that interact with one another, which often leads to new bugs being discovered. Some bugs are easier to fix than others, but it's not uncommon for Bungie to disable some items in order to better understand the root cause for the glitch and how it can be fixed. Something like this happened this Season with Telesto and Thermoclastic Blooming, which ended up creating a glitchy interaction where the former's projectiles would each turn into an Orb of Power if players destroyed them with a melee, activating the seasonal mod's effect.

Another example, albeit not confirmed to be a bug, is what happens when pairing the Necrotic Grip Exotic Warlock gloves with bottom tree Dawnblade. This is also a new interaction for Season of the Lost, and it makes Necrotic Grip spread the Dawnblade's burn effects and explosions, for massive AoE damage and extreme add clear potential. Still, Destiny 2 also saw the introduction of a new Exotic recently, and that is Ager's Scepter.

Ager's Scepter is a new Kinetic Stasis trace rifle, and this week it also got its catalyst added to the loot pool for Astral Alignment's Wayfinder's Trove chests. While the gun can effectively be used to defeat multiple rank-and-file combatants in Destiny 2, it also comes with an extra use in the form of it destroying Illusory Barriers within the Shattered Realm. These reveal either hidden Ascendant Anchors or loot chests when destroyed, the act of which is required in one of the weekly challenges for week 5 of Season of the Lost.

The challenge, called Deceiving Appearances, was autocompleted by Bungie for all Destiny 2 players yesterday. This was causing a bug where Illusory Barriers destroyed in the Shattered Realm would not grant progress for the challenge. As such, fixing the bug would have required time, and then it probably wouldn't have been retroactive and players who already destroyed enough Barriers would have needed to do that all over again. That's why Bungie decided that the best way to fix things was autocompleting the challenge for everyone.

Destroying the Illusory Barriers should also provide bonus progress towards the completion of the catalyst for Ager's Scepter, but that's not the case. The catalyst being released was probably one of the factors that made Destiny 2 one of the most played games on Steam this week, so these issues are likely sad news for many players.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
