With Season of the Chosen entering its third week, Destiny 2 players are finding more tools to add to their arsenals and harder missions to complete. So far, the Cabal have set up battle camps on Europa, Cosmodrome, and Nessus. Trials of Osiris has returned with new loot, and Beyond Light players have discovered new Aspects to modify their playstyles with. Plus, the surprise exotic mission arrived earlier than expected, letting players obtain Destiny's first lever-action rifle. This week, the catalyst is available, and it grants the weapon another powerful perk.

Destiny 2's newest exotic, Dead Man's Tale, is a kinetic scout rifle. It fires, handles, and reloads uniquely and is acquired from an appropriately one of a kind quest. Picking this up from Zavala will guide players to Presage, a mysterious mission that takes place on a dilapidated ship stranded in the Reef. In its culmination, players will pick up Dead Man's Tail from a mutilated Guardian who failed to escape the vessel.

Presage has received very positive feedback, but the mission still has much more to offer. After the first run, secrets of the abandoned ship, Glykon, become available for players to discover, including chests, scannables, and collectibles. This week, the Master difficulty of Presage has opened up, making the activity significantly tougher.

In this version of the mission, players have 25 mins to complete it. Furthermore, activity modifiers like Match-Game are enabled, and the recommended power level has been raised to 1320, which is higher than the max base power level this season allows for. While the standard difficulty can be done alone with a bit of patience, players are advised to bring a couple of friends along for the Master difficulty.

Upon mission completion, players will be returned back to Zavala who will provide the catalyst for Dead Man's Tale. To equip the catalyst, players will need to unlock caches during Presage or get 800 kills. Once equipped, it will grant the weapon a perk called Dark-Forged Trigegr. This increases the hipfire rate of fire of the weapon and removes hipfire accuracy disadvantages. The latter means that players can spam hipfire without the bullets spraying out, maintaining laser-like precision from the hip.

With this perk, Crucible players don't need to ADS to be more accurate. The main advantage of a hipfire playstyle is that the radar stays active all the time. Plus, players move faster while in hipfire mode, allowing for more finesses during gunfights. The rate of fire bonus makes Dead Man's Tale shoot as quick as some of the fastest firing hand cannons, but without any of the accuracy or range penalties.

Dead Man's Tale was already a decent weapon thanks to it main perk, Cranial Spike. But with the catalyst, its utility has increased significantly, especially in the Crucible. Right now, the rifle can dish out considerable damage from afar while making quick work of minors up close in PvE. In PvP, players will feel much more comfortable picking this scout rifle even though the map may be more focused on close-quarters combat.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
