After working through the Destiny 2 Lightfall campaign, players gain access to a number of additional activities and quests on Neomuna, one of which seemingly confirms the return of a character long assumed to be dead. Destiny 2 has evolved considerably following its launch in 2017, some of the changes not going over so well with the community which typically involved sunsetting and vaulting content. Through feedback, Bungie has seemingly settled on a favorable system, confirming that it will no longer sunset Destiny 2 expansions and instead add mission rotators to bring back older content. One of the biggest changes Destiny 2 has seen came prior to the launch of the Beyond Light expansion. The season prior introduced the arrival of the Darkness and Pyramid ships, with the finale event effectively removing numerous locations from the game including Saturn's moon Titan, Mars, Mercury, and Jupiter's moon Io. Naturally, this removed a ton of content as well as characters from the game including the grumpy Awoken Warlock Asher Mir, who was given a fitting story end. However, it seems as though his story may not be quite over after all. RELATED: Destiny 2 Finally Has a Cayde-6 MemorialSimilar to other expansions, finishing the main quest in Lightfall does not signal the end of new content in the latest Destiny 2 expansion. Players then get access to new quests and activities including Partition: Hard Reset, which pits fireteams against the Vex and Shadow Cabal on Neomuna. However, during the mission, players have seemingly discovered that Asher Mir hasn't actually died as many initially though and has instead become part of the Vex Network.

Thanks to clips from players like Chadratticus and Raz, a digital version of Asher Mir can be seen during the Defuse the Bomb parts of the Partition: Hard Reset mission. For Raz, the digital hologram can be seen in a far off tower that immediately vanishes while Chadratticus found a much closer and more detailed look. There's even a Destiny 2 voice line in Lightfall that references Asher by name, with an NPC named Quinn confused by a Guardian code coming through the Vex Network.

Outside of that, new evidence was also discovered by those who were looking at the season pass Inside Line exotic sparrow for Season of Defiance. Under the raidsecrets subReddit for Destiny 2, a user named PieStealingJames translated the Morse code used within the lore for the sparrow, ultimately translating to StillAlive/InsideNetwork/IdiotKids. For players who have been with the game prior to Beyond Light, Asher was typically grumpy, complaining about the youth and those who choose to act first and then think later. It's unknown if Bungie has bigger plans for Asher down the road, but with three more seasons left until The Final Shape, there's a good chance players haven't seen the last of the Warlock.

Destiny 2: Lightfall is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
