Destiny 2 is all about the sweet, sweet loot and players find themselves crawling back and drudging through the grind just to get their hands on as many awesome weapons as they possibly can. Bungie has crafted some of the most entertaining and rewarding gunplay around and there are so many weapons sprinkled throughout the Destiny 2 landscape that you're free to explore all kinds of interesting play styles.

That said, there are still some weapons that are better used for PVP and PVE (with some working exceptionally well in both formats). Today we're looking at some of the current weapons that are fantastic inside the Crucible and others that are better left for PVE or other game modes. If you're looking to gain an edge on the competition, want to try something new, or are simply seeking what loadout keeps destroying you in quick play, take a look at these 10 weapons.

10 Best: MIDA Multi-Tool

Bungie spends a lot of time balancing out its weapons which usually causes a lot of variance between weapon types as each season begins and ends. The latest DLC has seen an uptick in usage from Scout Rifles, specifically in the Crucible. This is primarily due to the requirements for unlocking the Season of the Undying ritual weapon. The challenge forces you to land Scout Rifle final blows, which can be quite the task for anyone who doesn't like Scout Rifles. The best course of action might be to use the MIDA Multi-Tool which leaves your radar visible while aiming down the sights, allowing you to easily track enemies and score kills. It also comes packed with a movement speed bonus.

9 Worst: The Jade Rabbit

In the grand scheme of things, The Jade Rabbit isn't a "terrible weapon" for PVP and there are some that swear by it, but when it comes to using a Scout Rifle in the Crucible there are simply better options. The exotic perk for Jade Rabbit sees an uptick in precision damage if you manage to land consecutive body shots and has a solid range but its slower fire rate and reload speed put it a few rungs below the MIDA. Even if you don't have access to a better exotic, you're likely better off to score a Legendary Scout with a full-auto perk.

8 Best: Ace Of Spades

The Ace of Spades has been a dominant force both inside and outside of PVP since it was introduced to Destiny 2. Cayde-6's weapon of choice is definitely one of the best hand cannons in the game thanks to the combination of Momento Mori and Firefly. Headshots will cause enemies to explode, dealing solar damage to nearby enemies and Momento Mori gives both a damage boost (to the entire magazine once you reload after a successful kill) and an ADS Radar like MIDA Multi-Tool. It's a weapon that rewards precise hand cannon usage and its catalyst makes the Momento Mori damage boost even stronger.

7 Worst: Sturm

At first glance, Sturm might seem like a keeper. It's an awesome-looking weapon and boasts a powerful impact rating of 92. It has an above-average range and a fairly large magazine that holds 12 rounds. Unfortunately, past that, there isn't much to love about this hand cannon.

Its exotic perk is somewhat useless in Crucible and it relies heavily on a secondary legendary weapon called Drang (which it synergizes with). When it comes to PVP you're better off leaving Sturm in its holster but it can be fun in certain PVE activities.

6 Best: Outbreak Perfected

If you're a fan of pulse rifles then Outbreak Perfected is an absolute must-own. Much like the Ace of Spades, Outbreak Perfected works magic both inside and outside of the Crucible thanks to an impressive stat set and a mean exotic perk. Headshots from this weapon will cause enemies to leave behind a "cloud of SIVA particles" which will then attack nearby enemies. Grinding out the catalyst will create even more SIVA particles that do even more damage. This weapon looks amazing, fires fast, handles well, and strikes like a sledgehammer.

5 Worst: Whisper Of The Worm

When it comes to PVE activities, Whisper of the Worm is one of the best weapons available. It's a heavy sniper rifle that greatly rewards precise shooting as it refunds ammo to the magazine if a Guardian manages to land three precision shots in a row. This makes it a fantastic choice for Boss damage but outside of PVE the weapon really struggles. Since it takes up the Heavy slot it can be difficult to gain ammo for it in the Crucible and its precision requirements make it a "headshot or failure" type of weapon. There are much, much better uses for the Heavy slot in PVP.

4 Best: The Recluse

Recluse was an absolute pain in the neck to get last season, and for good reason. Recluse has a subset of perks that turn it into an absolute beast on the PVP battlefield. Feeding Frenzy ups its reload speed after a kill and the Master of Arms perk will boost Recluse's damage if you score a kill with any other weapon.

It's the ultimate hot-swap tool and works wonders in PVE as well. Bungie has since "toned down the requirements" to obtain the weapon so if you don't have it you'll definitely want to grab it.

3 Worst: Malfeasance

Malfeasance is one of the cooler exotic weapons to grace the world of Destiny 2. Its exotic perk "loads" the enemy up with tainted slug rounds that cause an explosion after a certain stack of corruption is met. Unfortunately, this doesn't equate well to PVP. It takes far too many shots to gain the benefit of the exotic perk and there are simply much better hand cannons available, even in the Legendary subset. Malfeasance is a much better weapon for PVE and Gambit, where it gains a modifier unique to that game mode.

2 Best: Lord Of Wolves

Shotguns can wreak havoc in PVP and Lord of Wolves is perhaps one of the most deadly available. This exotic behemoth is capable of shooting a short-range burst of solar energy that can instantly end a Guardian at close range. Thanks to its active perk, you can even "swap" to a longer, deadlier beam that gives you additional range and power. Bungie spent some time nerfing this weapon a bit in the past but it's still incredibly strong for PVP and downright painful in the right hands.

1 Worst: Fighting Lion

Fighting Lion is one of the coolest grenade launchers that you can get your hands on thanks to its ability to "self detonate" grenades. It acts much like a remote bomb, allowing you to detonate your explosives in midair but also rewards those with an alacrity for how launchers work. If you manage to score a "direct hit," you'll be rewarded with additional damage. While this sounds great in PVP (and you get a decent amount of ammo thanks to its primary status) it simply doesn't do enough damage to warrant its use. It can be fun to score a few kills on Guardians that are low on health but there are much better options for those out there that prefer launchers.
